I've related so much to the female Shepard that the face, voice, manner and all-around badassery is ingrained into my mind since ME1. I hope the BW people would take the suggestion under consideration: putting Femshep in trailers, ads and even put her on her own box cover for ME3. Doesn't even have to rid the default Shepard, it could be like a Male/Female edition. :D

FemShep walks through a doorway ... the camera is zoomed in on her posterior as it sways back and forth. Que extreme booty closeup, then some guy says "Nobody cares that you saved the Citedal Shepard, you're still not welcome here!"

The camera pans to show FemShep smile, briefly, then she leans forward and punches the guy but the camera just zooms in on her cleavage. She stands up straight, the camera doesn't move, all cleavage all the time in ME3 and as the commercial is about to finish a lone bead of sweat rolls down FemSheps chest and into her "ah yes, armor!" right in between her amazing cleavage (that is now really enhanced!).

it would be great marketing to release 2 covers of ME3. One with MaleShep and one with Femshep. People love collectable covers and people love anything that is unique and exclusive. I am tired of hearing that FemShep is not marketable enough. She is marketable enough if you put 25 million behind her!!1

I think it would be a bit confusing to suddenly have 2 Shepards. Of course, I would have probably purchased ME1 earlier had I known we had the option to play a female. Bad research on my part, i know ;p

While it's probably unrealistic to think FemShep would get any love where advertising/box art is concerned, it would be nice to get a custom default model for her in-game (the same way that MaleShep has the Vanderloo default which is higher quality than anything you can create in the character creation engine).

I can't complain too much though, since the character creator in ME2 was worlds better than one in ME1.

Completely agreed, I can understand not putting femshep on any promotional ads or whatnot but it would be nice to have the default femshep in game be as high quality as the "sheploo" default male

Considering how awful the ME2 box art is, I say please don't. I want my femshep to retain a little dignity.

Heh, yeah nobody made it out of that box art unscathed.

Maybe when the trilogy's over and spin-offs start rolling out. If they made an MMO, for instance, I can imagine they'd probably have two marines on the cover, one male and one female.

Why don't they just not put Shepard on the cover?

Do you really want that ugly, generic female Shepard gracing the cover of a video game?

That's reason alone for them to stick with the male Shepard, unless they get a face model for the female one, which I doubt will happen.

Pfft, they probaly would add Femshep to the cover... If she looked like Miranda...

@ItsFreakingJesus. yeah I have to agree with you, that FemShep they got seems more like an insult, god shes ugly, until you fix up her face abit :/

I'd prefer to see some FemShep marketing for ME3. It's silly that a game where you customize your character is limited in marketing to one and same face all the time. And preferably the boxart shouldn't have a character portrait, at all. What's wrong with a more abstract cover? That coverbox for the Collector's Edition had the right idea - just a close shot of the N7 armour with blood on it. It was stylish, abstract and neutral at the same time.

Because it's boring and gives no indication as to what the game is about to players who are new to Mass Effect. You may as well have the box art be completely white with arial text that says mass effect 3.

I agree that they should put a lot more marketing behind FemShep. Lots of people prefer playing as male characters, but just as many (or more, depending on which poll you're looking at) prefer playing as female characters, so why target roughly half the gamers out there when you can target all of them? Especially given that most people who have played both prefer FemShep it makes no sense not to promote both.

Now you're exaggerating. It didn't hurt the Dragon Age sales to just have the game logo on white background in the cover. A good abstract cover catches eye just as well as one with posing characters, and it's hundred times more classy. Posing characters are dime in a dozen, anybody can do those. Pulling off a good abstract cover requires skill.

They have the two most popular PC's on the cover of Jade Empire, so why not?

It's hard to play MShep. He seems so fake to me.

The Mshep is horrible, ew ew ew. I preferred the look of ME1. They need something abstract, more eye catching than some dashing Miranda, Thane and Mshep.

All this talk of damaging continuity, lack of mass appeal, customers getting confused (are they that thick?), marketing etc. are insipid. There are 2 choices of gender to play since the beginning. Those of us who have vested everything on Femshep since ME1 deserves at least some recognition that she exists in the canon, whether in box art, marketing, trailers and demos, as I have mentioned.

p.s: The default femshep isn't that bad-looking. But I do agree a more quality makeover for the default version will be much better. In any case, all 'nice' versions of Femshep always utilize the same pair of eyes (second-last option if I am not mistaken) and it doesn't differ much from the default femshep, so it doesn't make much of a difference, to my eyes at least.

No I'm not. The N7 armor tells literally nothing. It could be a wall for all the customers know. I have the xbox 360 case for Dragon Age besides me and it is definitely much more descriptive and appealing than a segment of N7 armor. Let's see
a) Cool dragon.
B) Blood.
c) Some of kind of cool medieval knight/soldier/warrior.
d) An interesting looking mage. The customer goes "wonder what she's about?"

A good abstract cover catches eye just as well as one with posing characters, and it's hundred times more classy. Posing characters are dime in a dozen, anybody can do those. Pulling off a good abstract cover requires skill.

I fail to see how a closeup of N7 armor is what you could call "abstract."

Marketing is a weird business. I would actually be more interested in a game when i saw a kick ass female commander on the box. But that's just me i guess.

Anway, i don't really care about the ads and the box.

I'd really appreciate it though, when they would stop centering the actual GAME around the male shep. I think its safe to say that about half of the overall playthrough's are done with the femShep. They shouldn't design aliens, NPC's, missions, dialogs etc. with the male hero in mind and then just add the girl as some kind of side kick.

They should just put the main villain in ME3 as the cover. Now that would be a spin.

While I strictly play as a female Shepard, I think the default female Shepard is terrible and does not match the character's voice at all. I'd rather just go with the default male for box art and such.

Why are you complaining? There is already like 80% of gamers playing female. A guy on a cover art shouldn't be bothering you THAT much, no?
