We all view reapers as evil, killing everything then skulking off to the end of the galaxy.
What is their mission of killing is actually good.
Hear me out :
The habitants of the universe are killing stealing, mining and generally destroying the universe, so the "Care takers of the universe" the reapers, sweep in and clean up the damage and stuff before it gets too bad, and make a few babies on the way.
So technically they are not bad at all, and in fact helping to save the galaxy from us
This could present an interesting final decision,
1. Kill the reapers therefore saving the civilisations but therefore dooming the galaxy
OR
2. Let the reapers run their course, saving the galaxy, but dooming the civilisation.
What do you guys rekon? :)

Not this again.

Look, the Reapers kill everybody to consume them. That's evil.

End of story. You do not help the galaxy by turning it into a slaughter house.

Unless of course, turning the galaxy into a slaughterhouse helps the galaxy.

Yes, they are the good guys.

Sapient life is a virus, a plague on the galaxy. and the Reapers are the cure. We go about spreading, taking more resources, more space, never finding balance. They clean us out, making room for evolution.

Killing things against their will is evil. Reapers kill things against their will. Reapers are evil.

I remember Ammon Jerro's Haven in NWN 2. There was a test where you had to choose whether or not to kill a leader of a tribe. For the tribe, he was a hero and the ultimate good because he was saving them. But to save them, he had to destroy everyone else, including you. In the end, the accepted answer was to kill him because even though he was saving his people, he was still a threat to your own.

That was the gist of it. Probably got a few details wrong.

So it's evil to kill someone trying to rape you? Good to know, I'll pass that along to the inmates.

I'm sure they're going to have some kind of "WE'RE DOING THIS FOR GREAT JUSTICE!" moment. At which Shepard will promptly shoot them.

The galaxy is a place. Not an entity of it's own.
This reminds me of the nihilist bull**** about killing humanity to save the planet. Only amoral nitwits think it's clever to murder innocent intelligent life to preserve objects.

Great. As if the Reapers weren't bad enough, now we're being invaded by space hippies.

As Joker says, it never ends.

I give up.

The Reapers are the good guys, at the end my character will pull a Saren and the Galaxy will be at peace.

It's the same kind of philosophy; to suggest killing intelligent life to preserve something you prescribe some sort of nebulous higher meaning to, whether it's a planet or a galaxy.

Well look. Either people manage the population on their own or nature will do it for us through famine and disease.

What's your point? Neither will kill us entirely, nor will the Earth somehow be "better off" with people dying.

they could have a very good reason for what they are doing. That doesn't change that they are evil from the perspective of everyone they are slaughtering, which includes Shepard.

You mean like Ebola did? Or that flesh eating disease? Or Swine flu did?

I had swine flu for Christ's sake, and I lived. Hell, I went to classes and everything. But now I'm just bragging.

Or we produce over a hundred times the food per acre than our ancestors could two hundred years ago.

And I dunno if you noticed, but the population of the planet hasn't grown a hundred fold in two hundred years.

We haven't even hit ten fold yet, so I think we'll be okay for awhile.
