Well, he might still be a temp companion or a secret one, like GAH SPOILERS Loghain was... We can't say what BioWare did. Would be nice to see a temp role though. He is a Grey Warden after all.
If he isn't king, and didn't make the sacrifice, or take off and become a wandering drunk, or in at least one case I've had him leave the wardens because it wasn't the same without his love...then maybe. There are way more reasons why he isn't there than why he would be...lol I personally am curious to see what happens if you BOTH went to rebuild the wardens.

So hopefully I'll at least get a few cameos with him in it. It's such a shame though that it seems like he won't be a companion, he's partially what got me so into the game. (yea yea I know it's lame I need a life etc)

While I'll miss him as a companion, it doesn't seem unrealistic that the king wouldn't go on every mission. The main trouble is that I made Alistair a much stronger fighter than my PC, who was developed more for cunning. He will be missed in more ways than one!

Maybe they will be ppl who will give us new assigments in game, or our generals.
Tho my impression could be wrong also.

Not lame at all. When I found out all te time I spent romancing the guy, and getting just the right ending, wasn't going to lead to more of him in Awakenings I almost joined in the "I'm not buying it!" fray. But then they said it didn't END the romance, it just got put on hold. Which I'm pretty much going through in reallife with my own husband (year long deployment). So I realized that they did such a good job with the relationship building in the first place, in a way this actually ADDS to the romance indirectly.
You're going to MISS that person. Be it Leliana, Zev, Morrigan, or Alistair. Just like you would in real life in the same situation. And unfortunately sometimes duty does seperate you. Damn that Wynne for being right.

You'll so cruel KoP.
But in all seriousness, I like the fact that Oghren is the companion. It'd be nice to come back to the palace and say "What's up" to your betrothed every once and while though. And perhaps Leliana and Zevran are visiting the palace so you can visit them (especially if you romanced them).

I think that the whole thing takes place in Amaranthine. They've specified that you're away from your old life. And...sorry to disappoint...but they've already said which characters may have cameos based on your choices, and Zevran and Leiliana aren't among them.

He's dead and rotting in my games, so unlikely.
What an excellent example of someone trying to get a dig in and irritate rather than providing information! So clever!

I guess that's true... it's just I guess out of all the companions, the ONE companion I thought I'd get to have in my party again was the other grey warden. I mean, there's a reason I like Alistair, I like his character and I like him as my tank.
Even if I hadn't romanced him, I was hoping he'd be there again. I guess I have an overly strong attachment to my tank... and the fact that you could romance him just made it better.
I'm not just losing my romantic interest, I'm losing my favourite companion to kill darkspawn with! If I wasn't a mage who has a healer side of her at heart, and if I didn't hate Wynne... I'd feel the same about Wynne. Except... Wynne is patronizing and I only keep her due to her healing. (My attachment to a tank is in part because I played WoW for 2 years as a healer, so I always recognize my tank as a very vital part of the game and my lifesafer who keeps things from killing me)
Had Alistair maybe been a rogue, I might not miss him as a party member, only as a romantic interest. Darn me liking my tank a bit too much!
I'm almost slightly disappointed Zevran won't be returning, since after the final battle he seemed to want to hang out with the grey wardens and stick around for a while even though he and I were only friends. I'm not torn up over it since I don't need puss in boots for the expansion (and frankly I never used him in my party anyway he just stayed at camp). lol

I'm with ya there! Also find it creepy that Ohgren reminds me of my favorite dwarf pally tank ever in WoW. I too was a healer:) Totally understand the tank love. Thats partly why I'm still sad Alistair isn't with me. I was sure he would be, as you said, because He's the warden, but I suspected when I made him king he wouldn't be.
Man he made a good tank too, I loved just watching him. The moves are so much more...heroic than WoW. Especially when I'd get a mob on me and he'd come over and "Oh no you don't" I cracked up every time. I'm going to take my main through Awakenings (HNF rogue, ruling with Alistair ending) and see how it plays out before I decide what my mage will do.

The only people that would get upset about that are the emotionally unstable, I worry about offending them about as much as I worry about offending christians. If your point is that I should hold my tongue to placate other peoples mental disorders, you aren't going to make much headway in convincing me. The reason I mentioned it is that I was actually wondering if there is a referance to that desicion in the game.
And let me guess, you're trying to go against the grain by acting bad and intentionally say things just to irritate people.
If you have questions, ask them, but do not bring your religious hate into a forum about video games. You may think you're cool but you just sound stupid.
On-topic, about not seeing Leliana or Zevran if you had been traveling with them, a good way to avoid putting them in the game would be to say you were visiting the palace, or that the king or queen summoned you there. It'd be nice to talk to your loved ones at least a couple of times during the game but I understand that you can't have everything. If Bioware did everything we wanted, we'd probably have all of our companions along with the new companions and would never leave camp because we would constantly talk to them, lol.

I'll just have to hope they at least do a good cameo with Alistair. And at least Anders looks and sounds almost like Alistair. Is it the same voice actor? Still... they should've at least given people a small romance option since all the possible romance options from origins won't be are compansions. But instead they took away both! I can't complain much though, when I first started playing I didn't even know there'd be an expansion, or a possible sequel (afterall this is my first bioware game) so at least we are getting more content.

I really hope that the new chick (Mhari or something?) is a good tank, because I'm only importing one tank. I find Oghren is not a very good tank, so I really hope she will be.
