People say that Sentinal is useless and stupid because the Tech Armor doesn't do much and when you use it, it takes a a minute to recharge. Can't they wait that long? Well anyways. I used Sentinal on Insanity so I can get the acheivement for it. After using it for a while I thought this class isn't really that good. But when I beat Mordin's recruitment mission I knew that is class was possibly the best class!
All the powers are just amazing! The Tech Armor helps ALOT. It is good protection, it is a good sheild boost when your sheilds are down, and it might take a while to recharge after using it, but it is worth the wait. The Warp, the Throw, and everything else is just so useful. Biotic and engineering put together creates a super power!
So far I have only died 3 times in my campaign. Here is my stats so far:
First Mission Deaths: 0
Freedom's Progress: 2 ( The little mechs are harder than the bigger one)
Mordin's Recruitment: 1
Archangel Recruitment: 0
Okeer Recruitment: 0
Subject Zero Recruitment: 0
Now I am at Horizon. Since I am on Horizon I am guessing my death count will rise. The point is, is that you have to get used to something before quiting.
Try the Sentinal!
Sentinal is actually GOOD on insanity

lol anyone who says sentinel is not an amazing class doesn't know how to play sentinel. no offense but i play sentinel primarily and if anything it is TOO EASY. People can bash tech armor all they want but assault armor gives a +15% power damage bonus, which is beastly. i use that over my BDA that gives +15% power damage, +10 shields, at level 30 i think i have like 295 hp, 575 shields.
sentinels are not only nigh-invincible, they are arguably the class you can play the most aggressively with because they are capable of dropping enemies faster than any other class. above veteran difficulty you have to drop shields, barriers and armor all the time and no one does that more efficiently than a sentinel. once a sentinel gets a vindicator it is basically the easiest ME2 will get. lastly, i give my sentinel either squad armor piercing ammo, or full Tungsten Ammo. depending on the squadmates i bring with me.
just my opinion of putting ~100h into sentinel and maybe ~30h into all other classes

Hmm... I always thought that Sentinel is the best class for Insanity, but it's a very boring class

Tip: when people say a particular class sucks it's usually because they don't know what they are doing or are biased toward it.
All classes are good for Insanity.

People say it's Infiltraitor. I think it is Soldier and Sentinel because the Assault Rifle just makes everything easy. Sentinel's Tech/Biotic powers are just powerful!

the only part of the sentinel i find particularly boring is playing without the vindicator. whenever i want to play sentinel now i just play ng+ so i can start the game with the vindicator.
they can help remedy this by introducing new heavy pistol and new smg.

Agreed. My favorite classes are vanguard and sentinel. Vanguard just gets you in the action with the great charge ability.

Sure, but some classes are better than others (some likely far better).
The best classes for insanity are arguable, but Adept is still probably the worst.

Vanguard is significantly harder than Adept. Heck, I had a harder time with my Infiltrator than I did with Adept. Why Tactical Cloak away from harm when you can Singularity the offending enemy?
At any rate, who are these people insisting that the Sentinel isn't any good? Anyone I see talking about it is raving how every class is inferior.

lol... Umm, are you serious, how about you beat the game on Insanity with every class before you say it's the best one, I personally hated this class for Insanity.. It was a pain in the ass to always wait for the tech armor to recharge.. half way through the game I was already sick of it and just wanted to get it over-with so I could get on to my renegade play through..

Adept is very weak in the beginning, but after some levels they became very powerfull.
ME2 has a diference from ME1: no class can survive on it's own, you have to complement your powers with others.
In ME1 I pretty much finish the game without having to rely on my npcs, no matter what class I choosed.
Infiltrator, for example, is very good at tech and dealing damage, but sucks hard against a lot of enemies together and biotics.
I'm playing an Insanity tour with an Engineer, wich sucks against biotics, crownd management AND dealing damage! Is a pure tatical class.
In some missions one of the best squad mates is...Zaeed.
Believe it or not.
It's interesting that a lot of people bashes the Sentinel, but always recommends you to take Miranda as a squad member.
And Miranda is a Sentinel!

Sentinel is a great all round class. Even though they're a jack of all trades, master of none, they can cope with pretty much anything you throw their way.
However, that can make things a little boring as you are rarely ever in a spot where your weaknesses are exposed. Those 'oh ****' moments where you're out-powered and outgunned, forced to think tactically while under fire, just don't seem to happen.
I chose Sentinel on my first playthough, and it was fun. Playing through again as a engineer, it was challenging and fun as I had to play to my weaknesses not just my strengths.
It comes down to how much of a challenge you want the game to be.

Every class is easy on insanity if you just know what you're doing.

I've actually never seen anyone outside of this thread saying Sentinel is useless on Insanity. I used it for my run and having nonstop Warp and Overload was a great thing to have. Throw in the Tech Armor and special ability of either Assault Rifles or Sniper Rifles, it really is well rounded. Throw in Miranda with her squad weapon damage and health boosts (and HER Warp and Overload) and it's not hard to carve through things once you get to about Level 10 or so.

i would appreciate it if you read this and gave me your opinions this is the best sentinal forum i can post in the others say that i dont meet the requirements to post in them and i wasnt sure if i should post in a existing forum or make a new one i cant decide what to pick first i wasnt sure what to pick either sentinal or soldier but then i heard about all the stuff i told you about with infiltator so i may want to try that now and possibly even engineer because now that i think of it being able to use robots to help you and hack and machines you find sounds cool that being said i still think enginner wouldnt be as good as sentinal infiltator or soldier so i want to learn more about soldier and sentinal first before i decide like what are the differences between soldier and sentinal besies the obvious and is one better then the other if so y

I'm a Soldier and that's what I used to beat on Insanity, Sentinel is good if you rely on powers more, Soldier is good if you're too impatient for the powers to recharge and just use your gun.

but i like a balance between shooting and powers one of the reason i dislike soldier is because they have no powers or no good powers i heard

Use Reave as a bonus power, really helpful on enemies that flank you, Concussive Blast is pretty good on husks and for finishing people off.

I'm playing an insanity run with a sentinel right now. They are fun because you got extra defense from the tech armor, and you have just the right set of powers for anything (overload for shields/synthetics, throw for husks/dudes on ledges, and warp for everything else. I'm using reave as my extra, which is turning out to be quite useful.
As someone mentioned earlier, if you choose assault rifle as you weapon on the collector ship, seninel becomes nigh unstoppable.
