With the rate of posts here, topics come and go quicker than a lot of us can come up with. You, sir, need to chillax.
And if this sorry-assed forum had a search function, people might be able to find those previous posts

Currently, the materials (such as new specializations, respec tomes, new weapons, etc) do not transfer from Awakening into Dragon Age: Origins.

Ok, definitive answer time as there seems to be confusion here.

Well that would require the characters or books for those specializations to even BE in awakening, to begin with.

We've had it confirmed that you can unlock Blood Mage and Reaver in Awakening. I'm just wondering if that goes back to Origins!
I wish I had phrased this better in the original post. It seems like nobody understands what I'm actually asking.

So in other words, even if you unlocked Battlemage in Awakening; if you created a new character you won't be able to select that specialization on the level-up screen until you import it until Awakenings? Or is the "globally unlocked" aspect of specializations going to be removed completely?

The new specialties are only available in Awakenings. Once you unlock Spirit Warrior or Battlemage, it stays unlocked for new playthroughs of Awakening, but you don't get to use them back in Origins, because they're not present in that game.
No, really, I get all that!
But Blood Mage and Reaver are present in Origins, and we have a chance to unlock them in Awakening. If we unlock them (AND BY THEM, I MEAN, THOSE TWO SPECIFIC SPECIALIZATIONS, REAVER AND BLOOD MAGE) in Awakening, do they also unlock for use in Origins?

We already knew that. This is about the OP's question: If you unlock old specializations in the x-pac, do they transfer back to regular DAO?Chris Priestly wrote...

Correct. New Awakening specs do not carry back to the original game, unless you're on the PC, in which case there will most likely be a mod for it.Emerald Melios wrote...

If I'm reading that bolded section correctly, he seems to be saying that old specializations unlocked in Awakening will be available in Origins.

Ah, I get you.
No, The information from Awakening does not transfer, so it does not unlock in Origins.

That's disappointing; the mage specialization choices in Origins leave a lot to be desired.

I can understand if maybe the new specializations are considered "epic" specializations, although I still find it kind of lame. But what about the new non-specialization spells and talents? Are those "epic" too? Are they fifth tiers (or above) for spell/talent lines we already have? And what about the new enchantment skill? Are you telling me Sandal is epic? (well, okay, maybe he is
