What the hell? I buyed the digital deluxe edition. The game keeps trying to contact Dragon age servers, even though I SPECIFICALLY told the game not to. At first it just kept constantly popping up "unable to contact the server". And now it seems the servers are down or something, and I can't play!!!!
Damn it, we knew EA buying out bioware was bad, but you guys told us that everything would stay the same. It didn't. The fact that you need a continuous internet connection to play a single player game is just... moronic.
Why do you treat paying customers this way? I'm pretty sure pirates won't have this problem at all.
Even worse, I was in the middle of playing (for a few hours) when suddenly a message popped out "you are currently logged out". It's been 'contacting the dragon age servers' ever since. And now I can't even save my stupid game?
Way to treat you loyal customers.

I know the game uploads information to the social site while you play, but it shouldn't be contacting the servers for any sort of authentication. Though buying digital products through EA could be what is doing it. They are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to digital distribution.

And I do have all the DLC, I bought the deluxe version. So I do need to authenticate every time I play, and I click "Resume" to quickly in the main menu, before it has had time to log in, it says I can't, I have to log in.
The server works again, but I lost 15 minutes of play because of this. Arg, what will happen when my internet connection isn't working for some reason? I'll get really angry then...

Well there is no requirement for me to be connected when I am playing and I bought the digital version from EA Store. I can even uninstall the EA Download Manager and disconnect from the net and play as well, as the digital version from there doesn't have an online authentication.
Maybe see in the Configure utility that you are able to access through the launcher and see about the online section if all the boxes are unchecked.

There seems to be a problem with versions from some of the digital distributors that they don't save that you already have your DLC authenticated so you have to reauthenticate every time you start the game.
Seems like you have to run the game as Administrator to solve this issue, see this thread in the technical support forum.
