People, the US thing will most likely be very quickly fixed by the fan community via save-game editors/mods. Enough people are irritated, and DA is a moddable enough game where someone out there will do something to allow the Warden's decisions to be carried over. Maybe not all of them if the content simply isn't in-game for something like, say, a giant statue of the warden mage, but some of them.
Also, a romance DOES NOT make or break an RPG. If this were the case, none of us would have played BG1 or any of the other phenomenal old-school RPGs that didn't contain romance subplots. Do I like romance subplots? Yes. Do I roll my eyes half the time and just skip over them because they fail? Also yes. A poorly executed romance is more detrimental than it is helpful to an RPG. Since the game's only 15 hours long and the turnaround from DA:O was about half a year, I'd rather have a game with no romance subplot than an poorly implemented one.
No US, no Romance in Awakening: Which stage are you at?

It's more the idea that once a feature like save game recognition are implemented, people get more angry when they are taken out.
More so the US than the romance, though. I think that's more just bitterness.

Doesn't exactly help the non-PC players.Sable Rhapsody wrote...

In regards to the no returning romances "sidetopic" on page 4... That is one of my fears. I am reluctant to buy Awakening simply because I don't know how our relationships are being handled (will scout the forum for it). And if I did buy the expansion hoping for a reunion in a later expansion / sequel and there's nothing... It would seriously break me.
To clarify: I am looking for a reunion between Beathag and Leliana. Not just any romance.
Stages...
Not so much angy anymore.
Disappointed.
Sceptical.

I think we can expect that Dragon Age will progress over time, and that..come the DA:2 sequel..things will be radically different from Origins. I just get that feeling.
I think they could have eased us into it better however. Proper closure on both the US issue, and the romances, although I hear the romances will be given some kind of nod or acknowlegement in Awakening via cameos.
I really think the big plan is pointing at Morrigan and her God baby..down the road. And perhaps thats what the "canon" version will be as per multiple people posting their thoughts on these fora.

Stage ???: Meh.
I only did Ultimate Sacrifice twice, and I was not very impressed; nice speeches and all but the other choice has so much potential. All of the files I'll be importing have the Dark Ritual done.
Romances are nice, but not necessary imo. I want new party members instead (cameos would be welcome though).

I'm thinking it will be like ME1/ME2/ME3 (DAO/Awakening/DAO2, respectively). Your romances from ME1 are not really available in ME2, but all signs point to them returning for ME3. The difference here is that these are all full games, so ME2 had new romances, whereas Awakening won't. At this stage, I am thinking BioWare will make it worth the wait.
