Unlike the "cool kids" that claim to have not taken the human reaper seriously, I was genuinely horrified by finding out the purpose for the captured colonists and seeing the abortion of organic life that had been created by the collectors.

I agree. I thought the whole experience was pretty damn creepy.Schneidend wrote...

I just found the design stupid, but I was shocked and horrifed by how a Reaper is made and what the Collectors where doing, but the design and battle was very cheesy in my mind.

Seriously. I'm pretty sure I am not easily impressed, but I was sort of blown away. In hindsight, it makes perfect sense, too. This is why the Reapers Harvest. They need us to survive, to procreate.

A giant metal fetus would have been stupid. The ridicule Bioware would have gotten for that would dwarf anything they're getting now for the "Terminator" Reaper.kraidy1117 wrote...

Okay that is both disturbing and kinda of cool at the same time. It does make the whole sapient machine made of organic life a little more horrish. Wonder why they switched it to a mega-Terminator/Contra Boss.kraidy1117 wrote...
Its in the art book, orginly it was going to look like a huge baby with tubes and everying and looked more organic then the final design.
They wanted it to look more like a human, so sadly they ditched the old dsign which was a bad mistake. The orignal design was creepy, most likely it would have been fought like the Throien where we have to cut the tubes off (not like the Human-Reaper in the game with those little tubes, the concept had huge tubes all over the place) it just would have been cooler, more epic and less stupid.
It would have been EXACTLY like the Thorian. Hence they changed it.
Ya they changed it to something that was cool but after 5 seconds it was just stupid. I said it looked like it was gonig to be fought like that, it could have been fought diffrently. but alas it never made the cut.
So how did it change from cool to stupid in 5 seconds? Not making any sense here.
The Terminator was cool for like 5 seconds, then I just facepalmed. It was stupid, lame and I think Bioware watched Terminator 2 when they where making the game.
Just goes to show, it's much easier to be a critic than an artist.

QFT. Honestly, I had several issues with this game, but this was the nail in the coffin for me. No ending boss should make you laugh. It undermined the horror of what had happened to the colonists and completely destroyed my immersion. The thing was so impractical, so ill-fitting with the ME universe...it was Narm incarnate.

No it would not, it would also stop the threads of people saying that the human-resper would fly around in space like superman. The Fetus was alot better and more creepy then the wannbe Terminator.

The fight could have been a lot better, but the enemy itself was a horribly warped, metallic version of a human skeleton. That's awesome. If it had been made of bones and non-synthetic muscles, and put in a fantasy game, it would have probably been one of the most horrifying bosses ever. At least, most horrifying bosses next to GRANFALOON of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night:

...Yes, that creature is a sphere composed of naked bodies.

Sorry, but there was alot of ways the boss could have been designed as we saw with the orignal design, but Bioware picked the a easy way out.

Now, what really scared the hell out of me was when it hauled itself back up and tried to destroy me.
Also, I'm not surprised it was so easy; it's a freakin' Reaper embryo!

Of the concept art for the final boss we see in the Collector's Edition artbook, two pictures are skeletal torsos and one is a giant robo-fetus. I would have preferred something that looked more akin to the skeletal torso on page 16, but we clearly received the superior of the two concepts. Exactly how does a fetus the size of a skyscaper fight back?

No, Bioware did this. "If you can't make a cool final boss, just make a huge ****ing creature." Thats what Bioware did, there was many ways the Human-Reaper could have been handled but they went with a Terminator.

As opposed to what? Something that doesn't look even vaguely human? It's not a Terminator. The Terminator just also happens to look like a metallic skeleton. Terminators don't have three eyes, a mouth-mounted miniature Thanix Cannon, or horrific tentacle pincer fingers.
You're taking the easy way out by being unable to come up with a more articulate argument against the current final boss design than "Iz terminator guyz."
Thank the gods you've arbitrated that looking anything like a Terminator is bad, too, otherwise somebody might have actually formulated their own opinion instead of jumping on the same bandwagon you're so desperately clinging to.
