Tungsten. Its so tough it is used in tank shells as armor piercing core. Incredibly hard to machine though.
Although duncan-skin is an even tougher material.

I bet that Obsidian will be one, like the special Dagger Duncan found.
The other one I'm not so sure about. Perhaps Lyrium Fused?

If we're going to be swinging around ridiculously shaped swords anyway, we may as well not limit ourselves to the normal conventions of what kind of material is best suited for weapons and armor. So I think materials like gold and diamond are perfectly feasible, perhaps, if folded with lyrium or such. Golyrdium. Dymium. (not to be confused with neodymium)

Tier 8 Kriptonite
Tier 9 Nugbone
I'm also curious how many rune slots will the new material grant to an item, expecially with the enhanced rune system.

Gold can be hardened using chemicals now but they probably dont have that back then. Maybe Folded Lyrium?Cuthlan wrote...
Gold is not an effective metal for weapons and armor. Extremely soft. Pretty damned heavy, too.
I would think it would only affect Starfang, but that IS the main DLC item people want. Maybe it was a decision made based on that not working. It's the most reasonable problem I can come up with in my mind.

Scratch folded lyrium i want a blade made purely of Loghains hate for Orlais, a "leather" from Zevrans homosexuality and a heavy plate made from Alistairs idiocy!

They can go with generic names like obsidian, mithirl and adamantum. Or maybe something like 'hardened Dragonbone' and 'Red Silverite'?
I think the Warcraft game had materials like Thorium, but they'd be risky to craft due to toxicity and radiation. Same with tungsten(highly toxic).
