If we're going to be swinging around ridiculously shaped swords anyway, we may as well not limit ourselves to the normal conventions of what kind of material is best suited for weapons and armor. So I think materials like gold and diamond are perfectly feasible, perhaps, if folded with lyrium or such. Golyrdium. Dymium. (not to be confused with neodymium)

Glass in Morrowind and Obsidian is actualy a volcanic glass which makes it similar to obsidian or something of that nature, its not actual glass.
