Hi Guys,

Like many of you I have both Dragon Age and ME2 and was wondering if anyone has heard whether ME2 will be getting an expansion like Dragon Age is getting with Awakenings?
Cheers

On a recent GameTrailers interview there was a tidbit about them coming out with something major for Mass Effect and they discounted it as being ME3... the release is scheduled for 2011. Sometime.. so it would be safe to assume that yes. ME2 will get at least one major expansion that you have to pay for.

2011..Good games are coming out, I hope the expansion pack remains free through CE, if not, not interested.

Did I understand you correctly? Do you think that the expansion pack will be, and should be for that matter, free? Because if so that's crazy!

I'm not sure whether to expect one or not. Dragon Age seems to lend itself better to the expansion pack than ME, but then there is no real reason why it couldn't have one? Most games settle for significant paid for DLC thesedays though. I guess we will wait and see, although so long as we get at least one major DLC/an expansion pack that bridges the gap between games somewhat i'll be extremely happy.

imho someone should develop isolated communes for game developers and programmers to make games.    We can reprocess their feces as their substanance to save money.

I am just saying what I WOULD do, don't bash me for it. sure they are entitled for money, but no, ME2 is a great game and I will be buying ME3 no matter WHAT situation.

But thank you for reading.

Well I'm kind of hoping that we will get an expansion pack in about 6months similar to what they have done with Dragon Age, it would be a shame to have to wait till 2011 for it.

Exactly, if they brought it out sooner I might be interested still and God knows what crazy games might be pushing out there. I am waiting for Fable 3. ;3

Totally. I don't know if I could wait a year for an expansion.

Well here's hoping they do the some thing they did with Dragon Age which means we should see an expansion sometime in June or July

I hope so I can't get enough Mass Effect. I haven't been able to play anything besides ME1 and ME2 since ME2 came out. Great games!

These timeslines would fit :
ME2 Expansion 1 : July/Aug 2010
ME2 Expansion 2 : Jan 2011
ME3 : July/Aug 2011

Am Pretty sure these deadlnes would not be conducive to the developers weekends :D

In the meantime Mass Effect boys should release a toolset for download to hold gamers attention.

Some awesome Mods for Dragon Age.  Player community continues to amaze me with all the fine work they have done with the D.A. toolset.

Bioware said that they were making something "far reaching" for ME2 and is planned for release early 2011. It´s just my opinion, but I think it might be a PS3 port for a few reasons, so maybe they haven´t planned an expansion yet, but anyway here is why I think it might be a port:

1. Dragon age was released in November. They announced an expansion pack in late 2009 or early 2010, and they planned it to be released in about 3-4 months time (march 16/19th). Why would it take a year to make an expansion pack for ME2? If it did, it SHOULD be HUGE, or maybe a standalone game. Therefore I find it is unlikely that this is just a normal expansion pack. However, if it is a large expansion pack or a stand-alone game, I truly cannot wait!!!!

2. They said "far reaching". That sort of sounds like they´re implying that they´re trying to gain more fans (reaching new fans). So unless they´re making a Wii port, I think it´s a safe bet that they are talking about the PS3 community.

3. The ME series is no longer in any way connected to Microsoft. EA bought Bioware and they (EA) usually try to release games on as many platforms as possible.

4. It took about 4-6 months to port ME1 to the PC. It shouldn´t take a year to port one game if they could port another in half-a-year. So that indicates that they might also be porting ME1 for the PS3, which makes perfect sense. I´ve played ME2 in a ME1 ported save and a new save, and the port was a much more entertaining and personal experience, so why wouldn´t they give the PS3 community the same chance.

5. There are a LOT of PS3 owners that would like the chance to play ME2, and since there is nothing that forbids Bioware to make a PS3-port, it almost seems inevitable that ME2 is released for the PS3.

However, I also heard that they couldn´t port ME2 to the PS3 was because of incompatibilty to the games engine and the PS3, but that seem´s unlikely.

This is of course just my opinion.  I don´t even own a PS3, but I still hope that ME2 (and ME1) is released for the PS3, because that means more fans for the Mass Effect series, and that means more funding for ME3.

Well I'm all for them making as much money as possible as that means we will get more of 'these' types of descsion making  games which I think are the best out there. I just hope your wrong with the time frame as I think I can just about wait 6months not a year lol. Guess I will tide myself over with Alpha Protocol and Heavy Rain.

........if there were more games like this out there the waiting wouldn't be as bad lol.............

It's not coming out in 2011. They said they would be releasing expansion packs and things when ME2 came out. I doubt we will have to wait that long. Probably late 2010.

Well I hope some of the other game developers take advantage of the path blazed by Bioware and we start to see more of these types of games comng out in the future. Late 2010 I guess I can live with ;p

In the Interview they said they would release something "far reaching" in early 2011, and it´s rare that games are released BEFORE the first estimated release date.  But still, they might release something big later this year, but this specific announcement clearly said "winter 2011"(as in: early 2011, not around the holidays).

That could mean anything. I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatch.

Maybe, it´s just an idea.  Don´t get me wrong, I really do want an expansion pack.
The game is set all over the galaxy.  "Far reaching" could mean a lot of things.

2011 is too soon for a sequel for both titles (unless they hired a team of salarian game developers), and an expansion pack for ME2 sounds weird, but not improbable. My bet is on another DA:O expansion.
