Vanguard, Engineer or Adept, whcih class is more fun?

I will probably play on hardcore, and I have no idea if charging towards a single enemy and then getting the hell out of there is as fun as it sounds, principally considering what I heard from other people. Commanding the combat drone as an engineer sounds fun, but I would miss the extra weapons and my squad would be able to create combat drones anyway... I plan on choosing "dominate" as the extra technique for omni-enemy control fun, though.
The adept sounds interesting, but on hardcore, most of the enemies should have a thick layer of protection keeping me from using any of mypowers in them until I have taken more than half of their defences, at which point relying on powers would be useless.
Can anyone help me make a decision?

Adept is the only class in the game who's playthrough I quit on for sheer boredom. Auto-Hit Warp spam from behind cover was mind numbing.

Vanguard, easily. Strategic, adrenaline fueled charges AND entertaining abilities like pull and throw for biotic eye candy.

I agree about the Adept and I haven't gotten far in my Vanguard run to really hold a steady opinion. However, I am on my third Engineer run and it is still as entertaining to me as the first one. They are manipulate freaks that just love to control the battlefield and the drone is simply awesome. I also absolutely love using Cryo and Incinerate as well as relying on the sheer force of my powers rather than my guns. My vote goes to Engineer.

It depends on your style manipulation or combat, offensive or defensive, wild or CC.

Go Engineers! Let us unite and take down those filthy Vanguard believers! Nah, I'm joking.. I'll probably play a Vanguard on my next run. I'm just nervous that I won't pay enough attention to the map and die a lot x.x

Do you like pinball? If so, you'll lurve the Vanguard. If this playthrough is just for pure fun (not going after a specific goal), I recommend going on casual difficulty. Then have fun with the Eviscerator/Claymore and the Flamethrower.

I recommend going on one level lower then the difficulty you can play on your worst class, the learning curve for Vanguard is extreme at the beginning of the game, but i feel like casual is a joke.

After doing Insanity, I can't go back to any lower level. Otherwise the game doesn't feel as rewarding and or challenging.

I usually start off on casual when playing a new class, and really stretch my legs. Then when I have completed a recruitment mission I up the difficulty as neccessary.

You play, using a charge/shotgun combo, and you think, "Wow, this is pretty BA." But as soon as you keep dying and realize hitting anything besides health with charge does nothing, you get bored.
Adept seems extrememly repetitive.
Engineer is the most fun. Killing enemies distracted by the combat drone is really fun and also being able to use incinerate, cryo blast, AI hacking, and overload never gets boring.

Take down 1 enemy's shield/armor/w.e (a few bursts of fire or a warp). Cast singularity on them and then Warp for an explosion. BOOM

Actually anyone who has played vanguard for more than 5 minutes realizes that charging health is the most annoying thing and shields/barrier are much better to charge at.
And you're right engineer is so much more fun than Adept, i mean instead of ice balls you have to shoot energy balls and instead of fire you shoot a black hole. GOD! the differences

Adept is repetitive if you're doing it wrong. Singularity plus Throw is good times. Pulling dudes out of cover and then throwing them never gets old.

With Vanguard you really have to level up the Charge ability for it to truly be worthwhile. Nothing is as awesome as charging in, getting the delay and blasting people with an assault rifle.

I prefer blowing them away with the claymore.

The only adept build that relies on weapon is the shockwave AR adept - a build that most people won't use since most people hate shockwave with a passion. I love using it though.
Most adept builds use lots of singularities, pull, throw, as well as some energy drain for their bonuss skill.

As everyone here had said, if you're playing adept like you play sentinel or soldier, you're doing it wrong.

...so what if you can play a sentinel or soldier without ever firing a shot?
...and what if they can clear it faster than an Adept who spends most of his cooldowns on pull/throw/shockwave?
Whos doing what wrong?

I think clear time is a red herring in this case.
If you use clearing time as the basis of gameplay, then the OP should get the weapon classes (vanguard/soldier/infiltrator) since the power classes mostly rely on cc than direct damage, meaning they usually won't clear most battles faster than the other weapon classes.
Since the OP's asking about 2 power classes and only one weapon class, my guess is the OP wants to try out the crowd control abilities moreso than direct damage abilities.
I don't think anyone's doing anything wrong, if you check the posts before, the ones saying adepts were boring was using warp-spam all the time. Nothing wrong with that, but notice they were complaining rather than having fun.
I had more fun with my adept by using combination of pull/throw/singularity or shockwave rather than just spamming warp or reave.
And I'm going to press on this point again, most people who complain about the adept usually don't use throw or even singularity to good effect. Is there anything wrong with that? Nope, nothing wrong - but if they want to use a direct damage class, they have three other classes to choose from.

You're doing it wrong.
Besides, Charging enemies without protections sucks unless they have a solid object right behind them. Charge is best used against enemies that have at least a little bit of protection left so that they don't go flying when you make impact -- you enter bullet-time slo mo, and line up a point blank shot that's likely to leave them within an inch of their life.
Also, Charge isn't just about offense as it's one of the strongest defensive tools in the game as well. If your shields go down, Charge someone to refill them. If you're exposed, Charge an enemy that is near some cover you can retreat to. If a Krogan is charging, I believe you can Charge at them to stop them in their tracks. And on it goes...
On topic, I've tried the Vanguard and the Adept and the Vanguard had been much more fun to play. Then again, I never play straight up casters in any games, ever, so I can't really say whether Adepts or Engineers are powerful because I'll never give them a shot for more than the first couple of missions.

Fast paced, heart pumping action go for vanguard. You'll get the red veins a lot, but when you clear a level it is very satisfying.
Slower paced with strategic use of abilities go for adept or engineer. Which is not to say these classes can't be thrilling, just thrilling in a different way lots of big explosions and flinging enemies about.
Personally I found adept suited my temperament better, but i enjoyed them both.
