Vanguard, Engineer or Adept, whcih class is more fun?

Vanguard just suits my "ride now, ride for ruin!" style. Its deceptively simple, mostly passive skills and one active skill (charge). Once you get the hang of it you are flanking here there and everywhere. The only times I died is when I get arrogant and flew into like four or five people, which was my fault. I usually never died multiple times on one area. The easiest part of the game, on hardcore, was the Collector Base, ironically. I absolutely blew through that level so quickly, Harbringer would sometimes spawn behind me as I left him in the dust!
I will probably save an Infiltrator playthrough for when new DLC characters and quests come out, but at least one more Vanguard awaits and maybe another of the classes...

For further ingo
Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarge! ;D
It's the funniest thing ever (if you know when NOT to charge - don't be like me, who once charged right between two Krogan
Later on when you develop some special powers I like to combine Charge with Barrier for some special protection when i get close (I can't remember the name, but there is a specialization to reduce the CD of your abilities, which comes in quite handy. Down to 3 secs - so basically you can use your Barrier after charge's buff to shields wears off and kick some more ass)
I love the biotic+close combat combination. Needless to say, the animation rocks.
Also, Vanguard comes with Pull and Shockwave. I personally prefer to use Shockwave on weak enemies like Husks. A well placed shockwave and you'll destroy packs of 3-4.
I forgot to mention the immense pleasure I get from throwing enemies off platforms.

lol.
I think I may have you beat though.
Horizon fighting the Praetorian. Pull out my pistol for the damage boost against armour and see incendiary ammo is not active. So I reach for my Incendiary Ammo hot key ("2" on my keyboard) but accidentally hit "1" instead, which is my Charge hotkey. I go hurtling into the preatorian with an un-augmented pistol.
Try to escape but get hit by its ground slam attack...another reload.

Vanguard is easily my fave class, the true biotic god
Essentially, Vanguards can either be played as berzerkers or battle mages, and you can decide on the fly in every fight. Loved it.

Disagree. Say what you like about how it's not fun, but Signularity is the most powerful CC effect in the game. By itself, it trivializes most encounters Veteran and lower, and even at higher difficulties, you only need to trigger area defense strips to employ Sing as a wide control insta-win.
Some of the fastest, blastiest runs I've done on ME2 was as an Adept. Vanguard is faster if you cheese spawn points, but that only means I get to play less of the game. I didn't buy ME2 to spend most of my time looking at my character's butt running from place to place.

Thats an argument that it's effective, not fun. Nobody has said the adept isnt effective.
I agree though, Singularity is powerful. Not quite as disticitive as I would want for my Unique class power, though. Not compared to defining abiliites like Charge, AR, Tactical Cloack, etc.

Just recently ran the Tali recruitment mission, and was surprised when I figured out I could charge the colossus from the starting point.
Ahahahaha WHAT?! LOL! I shall have to try this!

Meh. Charge, yes. AR? It's just bullet time. Even as games, go, it's not particularly unique. Heck, I don't even like using it. Tactical Cloak is a nice get-out-of-jail-free power, but it doesn't excite me all that much, either.
Sending entire platoons flying every which way? Yeah, that's fun. Singularity and Pull Field both do it, but I don't need to max Singularity to get multi-target control effects. I can see how blowing up areas and blasting guys clear into the sky may not be for everyone, but I don't think it's all that fair to say that it's not fun on an objective standpoint. Blasting people and blowing up targets is a fairly popular kind of effect.

Vanguard is for those who like rushing into the thick of it, smashing enemy faces up close and personal, but constantly flirting with death.
Engineer is for those who like staying in the background and sowing chaos and confusion in enemy ranks, as well as being an extremely versatile tactician.
Adept is again tactical but more for people who prefer controlling the battlefield rather than confusing it, and causing enemies to fly around and explode in a number of hilarious ways.
Each class is awesome in its own way!

The collector base's beggining was a bit hard for my vanguard, but that was mainly because of some glitches. For some reason, I couldn't charge through the cover positioned in the middle of most platforms, among other "rare" glitches that decided to happen all at the same time. Once I learned where charge wouldn't work and the game stopped glitching, however, the game proceeded very smoothly.screwoffreg wrote...
Vanguard is my favorite so far and I am thinking of doing another runthrough, this time on Insanity with a Fem Shep (Fem Sheps were my main characters in ME 1, but males get better romances this time so I switched!). I will probably resurrect my old Vanguard from ME 1 and, after dusting her off, return her to the front as my MAIN character!

That krogan shotgun turned out to be way more useful than other people told me it would be, too. Even harbinger can be killed with one shot with it.

You made your point, Roxlimn. I've respecced my Adept build to favour Wide Singularity and dropped the Shotty in favour of the Carnifex and I'm having a blast. It's interesting how much difference a few weapon and skill changes can make.
Regardless, after doing Mordin's Loyalty mission, I'd have to say it's a keeper.

I kid, I kid. If you never played a vanguard, you owe it to yourself to try it once, charge is amazing fun. Often times suicidal, which adds to the fun factor =)

Agree on many of those points, my biggest problems with Vanguard were threefold, first just because you don't see a ton of enemies on the minimap doesn't mean they won't spawn the minute you warp in and wtfpwn you.
The low cover on platforms where it looks like you charge but you're in the same spot and the enemy is still happily firing away at you.
The places like doorways, platforms, places where areas joined that you hear "I can't get a lock" constantly even when the enemy is standing a few feet right in front of you.
It's a fun class, but I'd like my special to be more reliable.
Aside from that, I found adept fun at first and did a couple playthroughs but now can't seem to make myself go back to the class.
I started an engineer and the drone is fun but I miss my biotics (even though they're not as strong in many cases).
I've tried shotgun CQC infiltrator and boy do things go splat when you cloak around behind them for shotgun headshots, though I still feel AR or SMG is more useful.
I tend to like versatility so I keep going back to sentinel, even though playing a vanguard has made my other playthroughs more aggressive as a result.

My point exactly, the fun comes from charging in, shooting one or two dudes in the face and then "oh sh*t there's five of them!" . Can get a bit frustrating but it's action-packed fun. It all depends on what your preferences are. I've never played an engineer, but the sentinel can do a similar job at controlling the battlefield, and i find that equally entertaining. It all boils down to personal preference, but i think you can have a blast with both. I can't vouch for adepts though, i loved playing adept on ME1, but i find the protections to biotics a bit prohibitive this time around.

Not saying it isn't fun, at higher levels and when charge works it's great, even when surrounded.
My main point was the ability doesn't always work, and I'd like my special to be more reliable.
Tech armor nearly never fails me as long as I'm not being stupid, and can be used pretty much all the time.
Drone spam is fun.
Cloaking is great except you still get caught in crossfire.
Singularity is nice except I wish it would work better on protected enemies because it seems to disipate a lot faster.
I haven't played soldier just because "guns, guns, and more guns" bores me, but it seems as though adrenaline rush is almost always useful.
For a special, there are just too many situations where charge either doesn't work, or is broken, which is probably why it's such a powerful ability for those times it does work, but disappointing when it's useless.

My only complaint with Vanguard (other than the glitchiness of Charge) is that every freaking time I Charge a collector, I'll be about halfway to him, then all of a sudden I hear "Assuming Control" and I just charged Harbinger (who doesn't die to a single Claymore headshot on Hardcore.)

He dies with one claymore shot on hardcore, as long as his biotic barrier is at about 50% (which is not hard to get without risking yourself, depending on your squad mates) and you melee him once or twice after that to take away the 1% his armor would have left.Vaeliorin wrote...
I have to admit to loving the Vanguard. My favorite is charging one unprotected guy to send him flying off a ledge, then turning and shotgunning his buddy in the face. 2 for 1 deal.
