After resetting my EA.com password (forgot it since creating the account with the Spore Creature Creator way back when), I was unable to log in to any of the EA, BioWare, etc. sites.

I tried resetting it a second time with the same password thinking, "Maybe I mistyped it twice."  I was still unable to log in.

Resetting it a third time and dropping the period from my password finally allowed me to log in.

My question is:

Why does the "Password Reset" page allow a period in the password if the login system won't let you log in if it exists?

There have been some issues with certain characters in passwords. It's not listed in the FAQ, so if it's really not allowed, it's a good point to bring up.
