It's official, Final Fantasy XIII is a failure.

It's the STYLE he writes his reviews in. The mocking tones, hyperbolic language and extreme adjectives. It has been years since I've bought a game review magazine and I don't often read game reviews as for years the dominant style of reviews was to belittle and mock even things that the reviewer liked - what feels like a cultural meme right now of "its not cool to like anything, so even if you LIKE something you must mock it a little."
It works for people. Some people love comedians who's whole routine is ridiculing people, even audience members. I, personally, don't find that funny.
And, personally, I prefer the kinds of reviews that PC Gamer usually gives (it seems to stand out to me) - reviews that look at pros and cons, give details on game features and tries to take an unbiased view.
That review of FF XIII, plus other things that I skimmed that Sterling wrote, are in a sarcastic, rude style that turns me off. He could give Freedom Force a super-high review score but if the review were still written in the same style I would STILL not like his review style.
It is really outside of what he rates the games.
It is not about how he rated one game.
Either you believe me, or you don't. But that's the last I'll say on this reviewer.

Except Sterling isn't a professional troll.
He self-describes as one. Why should I bypass his own description of himself?

He states his honest opinion. Period
This will come in handy in a moment...

He didn't like it and the fact people assume he enjoys telling people a game many people are looking forward to, in his opinion, is mediocre is laughable. The fact you assume he has fun shitting on games is odd, because
who WANTS a game to be bad? In a perfect world, there would be no bad
games.
Again, he has said himself that "it never hurts to start a new flamewars!". So yes, I can see how people might assume he actually does it on purpose.

He's far from a professional troll and his opinions can get rather insightful and interesting.
That's just your opinion. Others may differ.

If he's suddenly 'biased' and a 'troll' because he disagrees with you, that just says something.
No, he is not "biased" or a "troll" because he disagrees with anyone. He is
1. Biased because:

OPINIONS are BIASED.
2. A troll because:
He believes that "it never hurts to start a new flamewars!" to keep your blog afloat.

He didn't like Mass Effect either, so now I assume he is the worst person on the planet ever.
Well you can assume whatever you like.

As for "it never hurts to start a new flamewars!" Yes, he said that but you assume just cause he didn't like FFXIII, he just wanted to start a flamewar? So, secretly he likes FFXIII but just gave it a negative review, just so he can start a flamewar?
Did anyone read my solution a back page, this will solve an argument like this.

'OPINIONS are BIASED" So, the is no such thing as someone playing FFXIII (may even be a fan of the series) but in the end, found it disappointing? What about those people who's opinions are neutral, as in they don't think it's worse game ever or it's good gift to gamers, but just "meh".
An opinion is a subjective thought not purely arrived at through empirical and evidential means. Bias simply means that a person has come to believe something out of a result of a certain disposition or taste. So I would have to agree that from a purely semantical standpoint, this point is fair, though colloquially bias can take on a different meaning.
I think I took this too far. Carry on.

That's the point, and the reason why Merin is right to decide if he/she likes the reviewer before attributing any value to that opinion.
Thank you.
That was the point.
