The graph of the weapons so far. Data is a little off because of posts not in a 1-4 list.
Weapons are also weighted by position on lists (e.g. #1 = 4 pts, #2 = 3 pts...)
If you want the spreadsheet, PM me.

Too early for results, I'd wait until this thing fills up. But good job nonetheless

True, that's why more people need to make lists (in a neat #1-4 format, please). I'll be updating the graph every now and again with current data. And any ideas for the weighting based on position on a list is extremely welcome.

It might be more prudent to work with each ranking as a different data set. Or just worry about the most popular gun.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who loves the Vindicator. I love the Widow; but I'm amazed at just how popular it is.
I'm also pretty surprised to see the missile launcher hasn't gotten any votes (not surprised about the Katana though since the Eviscerator makes it redundant or the Incisor since so few people have it). Granted, its not as entertaining as something like the Firestorm; but the ability to shoot around cover makes it really useful.

Its definetly good data and I think its well worth your consideration.
This is a tad off topic; but I think its a very good idea so I figured it would be best to post it in a thread that the Bioware staff has taken an interest in.
RE: Underpowered Weapons.
You guys might consider releasing a patch (or patches) to tweak some of the less popular weapons which tend to be underpowered relative to their alternatives. I've heard from a number of forum users that they really like the feel of a certain gun such as the Predator, the Avenger, the Shuriken or the Mantis; but they can't bring themselves to use it simply because it puts them at a disadvantage if they choose it over it's more powerful alternatives. The Katana for example is almost completely redundant after the release of the Eviscerator (good job on that DLC by the way, I really like that gun) and could desperately use a redesign to make it useful again.
You could release a patch that tweaks the damage for each gun; but I think I have a better idea...
Bring Back Modular Upgrades.
While I really love the way you guys made each weapon feel distinct from eachother, many player's have opined about the loss of ME1 style modular weapon upgrades. While the ammo powers (which I also like) have made the ammo upgrades redundant the ability to tweak the accuracy and damage of your weapons would fit really well in ME2. This would allow players to customize their guns by choosing to install an upgrade that would mitigate a weapon's weakness or one which further accentuates its strengths. For example a player using the Revenant might choose to mitigate it's weaknesses by installing an upgrade to improve its range and accuracy (or reduce its recoil) or to accentuate it's strengths by installing an upgrade to further improve it's damage.
But, How Would This Help Balance the Less Powerful Weapons?
Simple, you give more powerful guns (Revenant, Vindicator, Viper, Eviscerator, etc.) one upgrade slot, while you give less powerful weapons (Predator, Avenger, Katana, Mantis, etc.) two upgrade slots. Doing so would give the player reason to use the less powerful weapons again since they could craft the weapons to accentuate the strengths they wish it had. For example the player might put two range upgrades into the Katana so that it has greater range than the Eviscerator or they could put two damage upgrades into it to make it devestating at very close range.
Reccomended Candidates for a Bonus Upgrade Slot.
Katana, Mantis, Avenger, Predator, Shuriken, Geth Pulse Rifle, Collector Rifle, Incisor, and maybe the Claymore and/or Scimitar.
Top 3 Modular Upgrades I'd Like to See.
#1: Damage Upgrade. Useful for any gun, it would provide balance by making players sacrafice a potential damage boost if they want to mitigate a weapon's weaknesses.
#2: Accuracy (or Reduced Recoil) Upgrade. Useful for improving the range and accuracy of innacurate weapons like the Revenant or the Tempest or for increasing the effective range of a shotgun by decreasing the dispersal of it's shot.
#3: Increased Ammo Reserve. Useful for weapons that use their ammo up fast like the Mantis, the Carnifex, the Incisor, or my personal favorite weapon the Vindicator.
PS: I for one would be willing to pay for DLC that added modular weapon upgrades, particularly if it added alternate weapon skins as well.

4. Thanix cannon (no nonsense there...)
The hand weapons are very well balanced I think and for me only personal preference could elevate one above the other.
