[Canned Bullets]

What's better all around for a level 19 soldier? I use the Avenger because its accurate at long ranges, and sometimes the Revenant when I'm dealing with Collectors and Geth because of its high DPS.

Revenant in all Short-Mid range situations, Sniper Rifle for longer ranges. The Avenger becomes much less useful once you have the Vindicator and/or Revenant.

Yeah I'm not using the Vindicator right now, I'm playing on Insanity so it will run out of ammo, and the only sniper rifle I have is the Mantis with the headshot damage upgrade.

The Vindicator works fine on Insanity, it got my soldier through the game easily enough until I was able to grab the Revenant.



I still stand by what I said earlier. Revenant for close-mid range, Mantis(I suggest you get the Viper) for long range. I like the Avenger, and I like that it is Shepard's weapon in all of the trailers, but it just becomes a little bit obsolete as you progress in the game.

The Revenant and Avenger aren't even in the same universe. The only reason to ever use the Avenger again once you get the Revenant is if you feel that the game is too easy and you want to give the enemies a fighting chance.

Also, I have the Geth Pulse Rifle, but I heard that the Avenger is better.

I don't really have any insigit into the GPR. I think that it doesn't do a whole lot of damage to anything but shields, but maybe it shines in other situations. I don't know.

The Revenant is almost like a Heavy Weapon, even on Insanity.

Wow...  Just...  Wow...  What were you doing, holding down left click and trying to hit an enemy 300 yards away?  The Revenant trivializes insanity difficulty.  Adrenaline rush compensates for the gun's kickback and simply pulsing the trigger against mid-range targets will ensure that all of your shots hit.

when i used it was so weak i decided to load the game and get the widow idk maybe cause i didnt upgrade

No, no, it's fine if you think the Vindicator is the best. If it had more ammo it would rival the Revenant. I was just flabbergasted that you think the Revenant sucks when just about everyone considers it the best weapon in the game. It does not suck.

If the Vindicator had even twice the ammo it does now, it would be far better than the Rev.  Not that the Rev isnt awesome, but the Vindy's extreme accuracy on top of it's DPS is awesome-er.

Oh man, I'd love the vindicator too much if it were the case - the vindicator feels like an assault rifle spliced with the viper. I sometimes prefer using it to snipe than the viper.

Yeah, I had some damage, accuracy, and penetration upgrades and it did great.

Yeah the vindicator is the best rifle in the game. Sure it has low ammo, but if you have good aim the ammo consumption seems irrelevent plus you can get head shots from across the battlefield. Most of the people who complain about its low ammo are spending to much time hiding behind the same cover throughtout battle rather than moving from cover to cover and picking up clips on the way.

I love the Vindicator, I'd say its the best midrange gun in the game and puts out good firepower at short and long ranges too. It's only flaw is its clip size and max ammo.. if it wasn't for those drawbacks there'd be no reason to use the rev outside of husk heavy missions.



Don't get me wrong, I love the rev, but when you get to the upper edges of mid range fights it can get a little hard to control even when pulsing shots... and yes I know thats when you storm forward (and pop AR if necessary) for new cover closer to your prey.

Nah, for me it was a good combination, next time i will take the Adrenaline rush with 70% slowdown, because it gives a damage bonus of 50%;

but i kicked butt even without that on Insanity

I feel the same way.  I switch to the sniper at longer ranges and I actually do switch to the Evi when in close.  Heightened AR + Evi = dead, even krogans don't stand a chance.
As RamsenC has stated, I have a phobia of being more than 10 feet away from enemies...  but it makes the Revenant perfect for me.  It really shines close to mid range.  Though Evi is best if you have time to switch out for oncoming close range traffic.

For looks though, I like the Avenger.  It's the best looking gun in the game.  Feels so very Mass Effect to me.  I use it exclusively in all my Soldier vids too.

The Revenant demolishes the Avenger. The only assault rifle that can compete with it is the uber accurate Vindicator, the preferred weapon of he who has mastered the headshot. The Vindicator is like a surgeons knife, while the Revenant is like a sledgehammer. They're both great; but if you want a fully automatic the Revenant is clearly the way to go.



Personally, I love the Vindicator and if you master it you can take the Widow instead of the Revenant and the Widow is freaking amazing.

You can still do some pretty nasty damage with the Vindicator at close range if you stay calm and use your Adrenaline rush, even though it clearly can't touch the Revenant in that department.  Consequently the Vindicator definitely makes you appreciate how nasty the Eviscerator shotgun is and if something does get close enough that the Vindicator can't handle them, then that shotty can outpower even the Revenant.   As a fan of the Vindicator I just wish we could equip an SMG in place of our pistol.  The Hand Cannon is a good compliment to
the innacurate Revenant; but it doesn't do anything that my Vindicator can't do better.  If I could equip a Tempest SMG though it would give me a fully automatic option which the Vindicator can't provide..

To me it comes down more to a matter of one's preferred tactics.  The Revenant encourages charging in and mowing down anything that moves, while the Vindicator encourages you to spot out the most advantageous terrain on the battlefield and pick off anyone foolish enough to get within a mile of you.   The Revenant is a ton of fun; but I just can't rationalize taking it when I could keep my Vindicator and get my hands on the Widow.

PS:  Adrenaline rush levels 1 through 3 give a +100% weapon damage bonus.  Hardened Adrenaline Rush give a +100% weapon damage bonus and a +50% damage resistance bonus and Heightened Adrenaline Rush gives a +140% weapon damage bonus.

If you like the Revenant I might consider going with Hardened Adrenaline Rush and the Shock trooper specializations since they ncrease the survivability of getting close enough to make the most of the Revenant.  While maxing weapon damage by going with Heightened Adrenaline Rush and Commando is better for more long range weapons like the Vindicator and the Widow since it helps you take your target down before they can get close enough to ****** you off.

I found the eviscorator useful as a backup weapon to the revenant on insanity on the husk rush at the end of the collector ship just in case you run out of ammo.  The eviscorator allows you to be a bit further away than other shotguns since most soldiers won't get the krogan shotgun.

I love the Vindicator and that was very rarely a problem for me on Insanity.  Just don't use it for everything, the Vindicator is best for taking down guys at medium/long, medium, and medium/short range.  If an enemy is at long range you're better off using a sniper rifle (particularly if you picked up the badass Widow) and if they get in close bust out the Eviscerator and you'll rarely find ammo a problem.   Besides you can always bust out the hand cannon from time to time if you're really worried about running out of ammo.

If you're just going to use the Vindicator at medium range and above, why not just use the Viper, which is superior in every way for sniping?
