Does it matter what order you play the story in? For instance
when you go to Redcliffe Alistair asks to visit his sister in another
city, should that be done first or does it matter? thanks

You need to complete all the islands around the middle one so they show up with runes, as you clear them they'll open up paths to save your party and once you complete them all it'll open up the one in the middle where the boss is.

thats a side quest do it when ever u want before you start the endgame
