What I like about Jack's loyalty outfit is the fact that *it is actually a unique outfit opposed to a color-swap.
Actually, it isn't. I was actually dissapointed how her supposed new outfit was just a new texture-map over the existing model.
If you look closely, you'll still see her old belt-over-nipples-costume underneat the new leather costume. BioWare just dropped a new texture-map over Jack's model with an extra 'bump-map' (3d experts know what I mean) to make it look like she has a whole new costume, but she really doesn't.
I know, it's just a small detail and I really shouldn't be bothered about it, but still, I was a bit dissapointed about it.
Well you know what he means. It looks like a new outfit even though it is just a skin change. And her belt bra is outside the vest.

Though I dont really mind her belt-bra either. Hell, there is nothing in female body to be shocked about, and her body is also so butchered with tattoos and scars that there is barely anything femine in her anymore, even less reasons to get "red cheeks" when seeing her. That is just my opinion anyway.
Still, the whole concept of her beltbra clothing is so ridiculous that I just HAVE to do the loyalty mission just to get her good clothes.

no i dont like her original outfit but i also think it fits the character perfectly, someone who is psychopathic, who treats sex very casually, and who frankly will kill people just for kicks most of the time, she really doesnt give a crap what people think of her, and her whole persona is to stand out.. to distance herself from the scared little girl maybe?
QFT.
I don't like seeing the original outfit but I understand how it would fit Jack's personality profile. It's the laziness in creating her "shirt" that annoys me. It extends to all of the alternate outfits... especially Garrus's.
But more than that... I agree with the others that I wish the outfits had more practicality to them. First, there's no reason why Jack and others shouldn't have full space suits on when walking around in a vaccuum. Cleavage makes sense... sort of. Miranda and Samara both know their bodies are weapons. Miranda even admits as much in dialogue. That still doesn't excuse the high heels though.
However, in the end though I feel like we the players are grasping in the dark trying to find excuses for bad design decisions. Both Miranda and Samara could have just as easily been made with neck-high costumes but still kept the tight form. The over-sexualization makes me feel like I'm playing a crappy Japanese game rather than one made with Western practicality.
ME2 is a great game... but these little things add up after a while.

Covering her up after her LM seemed the anathema of her character, which I guess was the point.
I'm really not sure whats with all the Samara outfit hate. From the moment I ran into her, I never really looked at her in a sexualised way. The long cut is nothing compared to the horror that was Benezia's dress in ME1. Her look for me reflected that she was a strong, dominant female. The way that she carries herself, whether at rest or in motion, I find beautiful in an aesthetic way and just radiate confidence in herself. As Liara drummed into our collective heads in ME1, other people constantly sexualize the Asari, and that seems to be the case of Samara and her outfit.
(Besides, with Samara being how many hundreds of years old, I think she'd have learnt to perfect the art of fighting in heels... heel fu!)
Miranda... her I put in her Loyalty outfit the moment its available. For some reason the solid black outfit looks a lot more professional than the white one, rather than 'Hey, I just escaped from that old Buck Rogers TV show, and all I got was this outfit that was a couple of sizes too small.'

To you, I say... have you looked at Western RPGs in the last 30 years? WoW pre-Wrath was a highlight of the design in Western gaming that the amount of protection an armor provides to female characters is the inverse of the amount of skin it covers. Following the Western paradigm, Jack has the strongest armor in the Mass Effect universe.
Oddly enough for male characters, the more it covers, the better the armour, hence why poor Garrus is restricted to his high collared monstrosity, and all male Krogan need can openers to use the facilities. That and the thought of Wrex in a g-string bikini would most likely kill most of the players with sheer horror.
Yes, Red Sonja, and the art of Frank Frazetta and co have a lot to answer for...

Oh yeah, Mirandas outfit is another one. In black its way more tasteful than in white. Black suit sort of gives me a Imperial Uniform from Star Wars sensation, it fits her.

I loved the concept art (where she was completely topless) because it showcased her tattoos, which are a defining feature of her character, but there was no reason for her not to cover up with a sleeveless T or something earlier, once she escapes Purgatory. AND any female athlete out there can attest to how uncomfortable it would be to run around, fight and dodge bullets without the ME equivalent of a sports bra...
As for sizes, well... anything that doesn't fit in your hand is a waste IMO! But seriously, I never paid much attention to that particular feature of my female teammates anatomy... but then, impending doom at the hands of the Collectors helps keeping you focused!

I feel like in the last 5-10 years western gaming has made significant strides in de-sexualizing female characters. There are always exceptions of course, including WoW. But I think it's not a big stretch to say Western developers generally create more believable modern women than their Asian counterparts.
That's why seeing Miranda prance around in heels stung a little. It's a step backwards.

I've heard people salivate and go "Huh huh huh, she's just wearing a belt over her nipples!"; that confuses me. I actually find that repulsive for some reason.
You...shouldn't. Especially not if you like boobs, that's just weird.

Yes, it does. Well, not "This," but the thing "This" was referring to.
Saying that someone is more attractive when they're wearing more clothes implies that there's something wrong with the body underneath them. In this case, the "female form" of Jack.

Jack's loyalty outfit is the only one that can be thought as a visual upgrade. All the other loyalty outfits are the same with the original outfits but with a different color. The worst of all is the one given to Garus which for some reason comes with the same old damage and just a quick paint job.
Funny, because it looks exactly to me like they painted her torso black.
The harness is even still visible.

Again, its not about attractiveness. I have not been a teen that looks for "hotness" that get my hormones running in circles for long time. For me its the whole idea walzing around wearing belt-bra that is so dumb beyond belief. And the post you are quoting referenced to Jacks personality, the reason she oversexualises herself is indication to total lack of self respect, and that effectively lowers the interest on character. But then again that is true, Jack doesn have much self respect...
Her loyalty suit is MUCH better. It retains her badass-girl feel, skin tightness adds some sexuality, still hints about low self esteem. But all this in good balance.

How about not liking a ridiculous nipple harness that looks like it chafes like a ****?
You know if she went topless it'd be one thing, but the harness is tacky as hell.

How does throwing on a vest - not taking off the harness, of course, just applying more pressure to it and making it even more painful to wear - help the situation? At all?
