I believe there is no official connection (and no paper trail), but it's clear that the same corporations that fund/bribe the alliance management also channel funds into Cerberus. These are the people that control both organisations.

There seems to have been a paper trail at some point, since Kahoku said Cerberus had been an Alliance organisation (implying "officially"), then it went rouge. But the "papers" are (were before destroyed) higly classified. And with the deepening involvement with the alien Council, the human honchos decided to make even more distance between the "official" Alliance and Cerberus. And the Codex in ME2 even described Cerberus, as if it had never been with the Alliance. But Shepard knows it's not true, like the "official" Council's standing on the Reapers.

simple to protect the real truth that yes Cerberus and the Alliance are one in the same. ask Edi on the ship after her blocks have been removed what she says about Cerberus and the Alliance basically built the original Normandy now how can that be true if in reality they are the same

I had the same idea after completing that. The ending decision in her loyalty mission was really hard to decide on...

Back on topic though, I think this thread has much more merit now.

I was in denial, but now ... totally agree.  Maker help them all when Shepard finds out.

The question I ask myself is, if Cerberus is  an arm of the Alliance, who knows about it?

Does Captain Anderson know about it? Does Hackett? They're who I think of when I think of THE ALLIANCE. And it just doesn't seem very plausible to me that any of them would know about this, or approve of it.

Can you see Anderson or Hackett sanctioning this very easily? So then I think, maybe not everyone in the Alliance knows. Maybe if it is a secret Alliance op, it's only known by some of the real higher ups, the men behind the scenes, and not official Alliance authorities.

Anderson isn't a VIP. He is a prominent officer, but makes Admiral only recently. Maybe he's been to some backrooms, seen some faces, but no policies were decided on in his presence.



Hackett... Dat voice! Awesome, isn't it? Like TIM's. So it's possible he knows, that Cerberus are our guys, which makes them essentially good guys. Also, unless you never played ME1 renegade style, you should know (from Lord Darius quest), that Hackett is quite manipulative and unscrupulous himself.

Well I'll keep Anderson and Udina alive but for entertainment. I'll watch Anderson beat up Udina for hours. Anderson isn't really much of a friend...he uses Shepard too in order to get his revenge on Saren.

Why do you think Kasumi's data have Cerberus connection?

Actually it a bit dissapointed me, because all this "Alliance's dirty secret, that may make them look bad in the eyes of the Council" is pretty irrelevant in the all-human new Council scenario. They should have formulated it as "... look generally bad..."

Anyway, where was my "upload to Cerberus" option?
