I realize it's a tech tool that does mutlitple things, it is a holographic type glove deal thing that appears on the arm, but where does that hologram come from?

Is there some kind of arm band worn, a special glove,  is there some chip put into the users arm, or is there something held in the hand? What is creating the look of the omni tool and what creates the functionality.

Or is this something Bioware just hasn't really explained? I can't seem to find anything on what an Omni-Tool actually is and I wonder if I'm missing something in ME1 and ME2.

I know this might seem pointless to many people, but it's just been bugging for a while now.

I've must have read that a thousand times and I've missed the part where it says handheld device. Unless someone just now added that to be a jerk. I hate wiki's.

What I find interesting is that in then 2 Mass effect books Omni-Tools are round compact like objects that you carry in your pocket..

I haven't read any of the books but I was thinking for a while it was something small enough to carry in a pocket or a chip under the skin.

Basically it's a personal computer in your wrist. and it's probably just a chip in the skin.

It's a thought generated wish-granting fairy that can only be created once a person's awesome meter in overloaded.

A microchip in your armor, or in your hand.
