I'm not sure there are any relevant posts which touch on this issue but it is one I have experienced regularly.
During missions such as taking the Reaper IFF or during the Corrupt VI mission in which you become trapped on the space station, the fight on Freedom's Hope and the fight on the Collector ship, these missions all have something in common.

That is each of these missions have a blue lightning effect. Wether it's from the Core of the ship during the IFF mission, the Collector Praetorians or the directional beam you must move about to solve the puzzle and get out of the room. During each of these situations in the game when the blue lightning effect occurs, I've experienced game crashes. I can't quite figure out why beyond perhaps my system memory is some how being maxed out by the particle/special effect taking place at the time during the game. I've managed to restart the game and get past these events without problem. But it seems to come and go.

Before anyone says "It's probably your system" (which I am not beyond thinking it may be)

I welcome any suggestions/advice/help. Thanks in advance.

I went and did a bit more research on this crash. Seems the Nvd3dum.dll file can/will create an access violation error with certain applications. Mass Effect 2 included. I googled and came across info on the exception code 0xc0000005 error.

I also went and downloaded and installed the latest drivers from NVidia in the hopes it would address this issue with no luck. Soon as I restarted the Reaper IFF mission and the core lit up between waves of Husks, game crashed again.

*Sighs*

I'm outta ideas.
