This was my first attempt at anything like this so while it's far from perfect I did like the way it turned out. Some of the cuts aren't timed too great and the pixelization is inherent in the source video I had, I may futz around and try to fix both issues but this is pretty close to final. Comments and constructive criticism is always appreciated. Even better would seeing what other, more talented people could come up with!

I've done similar videos in the past, but with FF7 Advent Children clips.

Now I'm thinking I want to do the trailer I originally imagined in my head to a much longer piece of music...though which one yet I don't know.

Think about making that live action one though..you can play all the parts and then mesh it together..unless you have friends who can help (I don't have too many friends ..and especially none that are gamers..haha)

I'm hoping to use Immediate Music (Movie Trailer Music, essentially) to make some montages once I get my hands on some in-game clips. There's a good variety of music they put out that has a sense of urgency or mounting struggle to them.
Immediate Music - Dark Side of Power
Immediate Music - War Games
There are two that get me thinking of scenes in my head already. Check them out if you try for a second trailer perhaps in the future! Good luck

We can indeed! I'm wondering all the interesting videos that will pop up once the game is released. Some people do some really great things out there with Trailers. But.. those people usually have some awe-inspiring talent with Sony Vegas. Here's a link to one of more recent favorites. The effects are too heavy, but he fits the music with the "feel" of the scenes quite well I think. Plus, I just like seeing all these games I know thrown into a mixmakenzieshepard wrote...
Thanks for the music links DeviantJoker definitely gave me some new music possibilities to work with. MM popping up at the end there is a somewhat jarring but since it seems to be the signature ending sound soI left it in, though perhaps a nice dragons roar would fit good there too...hmm. It's true once we get our hands on in-game cutscenes there should be a lot more material to work with and it can star our PC!

I'll probably throw up an entire play-through of DA:O as people seem to enjoy watching folks playing, if only to "relive" playing it. I once watched an entire series of "Let's Play: Chrono Trigger" oi...
And coming back from being OT... All and all though, I'm really looking forward to fan-made renditions placed up on you tube. Sometimes the video is just all the more enjoyable to watch because you know someone behind it really enjoyed playing the game. So if you make another, let us know

I wonder if there would be any interest in a video makers group, if one hasn't already been created.

I was going to make a trailer using Hand of Doom by Manowar (planned it out much earlier) but I couldn't get approval from the copyright suits. So there goes my grand plan. Shame, too. The song would have fit perfectly with a montage of Dragon Age trailers.
Here's the song on youtube. Ignore the video, if you please.

That was very nice, I expecially appreciated there wasn't rivers of blood like in most official trailers.makenzieshepard wrote...
So I didn't see anything through the search but I thought since I had just made my first trailer mashup I'd start a thread about any fan made Dragon Age Videos

A very nice first attempt, but I thought that the music was a bit too 'soft' for the action sequences in the trailer. It fit perfectly with the map overview scene, but something more punchy would have accentuated the fighting sequences much better, yes?

In music class I was always the kid that got to play the triangle so audio is probably farther from my forte than anything. However that song does have a drums&fx only mix that maybe could be overlayed and synced(is that even the right terminalogy? lol) at the end to give more of that punch one might be looking for.

Sync is a word in the English diction, so yes, it is the right terminology.

I don't have a mac and the Sony Vegas I borrowed from a friend is so complicated I have no idea how to use it! I used my friends iMovie for a while but... youknow I had to give it back.
Sony Vegas is a beast of a tool, but it is incredible in what it can do. I recommended this tutorial link in the beginning of the year to one of my friends and it helps with some basic things. Truthfully, it's been a long while since I've watched this vid, but I'm sure it's pertinent for beginners.
I'm not saying Sony Vegas is needed, if you are comfortable with something else as an editor, by all means use that. But if you do have it and ever wish to learn some basics on how to use it is there for you.
