It changes depending on your sex and perhaps Rendon has another son than Thomas but he is not interested in your female HN

I kinda hope they have him say something supporting what Howe did to the Couslands. My HN dual-wielder will gut him like a fish.
I can always see if he's an interesting character when I play my mage.

His daughter was called Delilah and female Couslands are told of a son called Thomas, so story-wise he has to have both a son and daughter (although one is never mentioned depending on your gender) so it's perfectly possible he has more children, namely another son, Nathaniel.
Having said that, nothing has been stated yet that he is definitely Rendon's son. He could just as easily be his nephew, younger brother or cousin. Although, there would be far more interesting dialogue possibilities if he is Rendon's son

Go into the thread "So is Justice a secret companion or something ?". On the OPs first post there is a link to prima games. If you read through it leaks Justices name and Nathaniel Howes. I cant be bothered to copy out the link considering the thread is on the same page of threads as this one.
EDIT : Yup thanz Johnny Jaded (or whatever i forgot already)

Nathaniel isnt very likely to be one of Howe's kids - Thomas and Delilah are the only known ones, and they were likely kicked out of Amarenthine. I suspect that he is a nephew or something and (if he is the the guy in the comics) has been away for a while. I'm guessing Antiva from the way he's fighting.
... Despite my hatred for Arl Rendon Howe I guess I could find it in my Nobles heart to - - - forgive Nathaniel, at least for his ignorance. Guy comes homes and finds it overrun with Orlesians - whats he to think?
The Howe family has for generation fought for Fereldan against the Orlesians, and then some. Should we really let one bad apple ruin the family name forever? Are we humans like the dwarves with their castes that we cannot forgive the younger of the sins of the elder?
Give the guy a chance to fight by your side - if he turns on you then gut him. Thats my two cents.

I am not gonna kill this dude unless he gives me a damned good reason to. He's a Howe, but not the Howe whose head now decorates my fireplace mantle. Thus, I'll give the kid a shot. Though certainly not a tent invite, if he looks anything like his old man.
But really, killing someone just because of what some idiot family member did, that they weren't involved in, is epic fail in so many ways it's not funny.

I feel sorry for the Howes. Even I played a HN, but there is no proof pointing to Rendon's family being involved in his power craze. I would choose as my HN to still allow the Howes to live in Amaranthine.

I agree, I hope thats an option. Show you're mercy by allowing them to stay or kick them to the curve to wander the land with their black name. All the more interesting if you're playing as a human noble.

Heh, I gave Zev a chance...and Zev *did* try to kill my HNs. I can probably give Nathaniel that same chance, though as others have said, if he even looks at me funny, *SHINK!*.

Before it was said there would be no romance in Awakenings I wondered if a HN could romance Delilah, despite the fact he killed her dad. It said in the origin that she was "quite taken" with the HN and if you talk to Howe, you can speak to him about marriage with her. Thought it would come down to If she like him (her father) or not. But alas no, I thought it would have made a good rebound if the HN had romanced Morrigan and she ran off, leaving him all alone:crying:

I'm almost positive that Nathaniel is Rendon Howe's nephew. He addresses the Arl in the comic as "Arl Howe," rather than "Father".

I dispise the bastard... I think that's why I'm so smitten with him.... I just love to hate the guy, just because he's Howe... It's a hate to hate but you 'deal' anyway relationship... Bioware loves me... LAWL
As a romance option and recurring character in DA2 would to open up flood gates dialog, slapping, yelling, tension, pushing, punching, arguing, icy glares, biting and animalistic hate.... That's just from the male wardens...LAWL
