Picked up the game yesterday and am really liking what I've seen so far . . . which, admittedly, is not much (just got my mage out of the tower and picking my way through to the beacon).

In any event, been running into an issue with getting the game to start-up, seems like my initial load times range anywhere from 4-20 minutes upon clicking, "Play."

I"ve patched to 1.02a and have read enough on the forums to notice where others are experiencing delays with load screens; my issue is not, necessarily, with loading from point-to-point but only upon start (although, they may certainly be connected).

I'm running Vista Home Premium and have preset DA to pass through the firewall - I have seen where Vista may still be blocking, though.

I've toyed with the idea of reinstalling - might that help?  Or, do I really need to get in a futz with my Vista settings?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?  I'm really just guessing that the issue is Vista, clearly, it could be something else so, I am open to suggestions.  Also, if there's a link any of you feel best describes a fix for my issue, please feel free to post.

So, after fooling around a bit, I seem to have gotten things to run smoother at launch by adjusting the settings into windowed mode rather than full-screen.



Perhaps this'll help others with similar issues (or, perhaps, folks already knew this . . . probably closer to the mark noting how little people replied - like none - hahaha).



Again, I'm all ears for anyone with suggestions for modifications to run in full-screen mode.

graphics card make/model

cooling (if necessary)

Any other information that might seem helpful





Gorath, you are getting grumpy and jaded. He stated he was a newb. As a newb he probably doesn't know he needs to add this info. As someone who spends a great deal of time on this forum answering the same questions day in and day out you have to remember that not everyone else here is experienced and knows the etiquette. These issues are really the fault of Bioware and EA for not doing a better job of moderating and cleaning up this forum. Get grumpy with them, not the new guys who just want some help.
