I mean, seriously. Is it possible not romance her without being a complete ****? I don't want any romances for my ME2 to import.
Turning down Liara is simple- I just need to tell her that I just want to be friends with her. But how to turn down Ashley? I keep romancing her even when I pick neutral responses <_<

It's not an astrophysical dilemma of some sort. You simply don't talk to either of them (Ashley and Liara). Talk to the rest of the crew as you please, but not those two. JUST IGNORE THEM and you'll stay single until you finish the game. Image IPBImage IPB

I dunno, I talked to her plenty, just picked the negative responses a couple of times, and that was enough.

You either have to not talk to them or be a complete a**hole. The former is a more reliable way, however.

The question is why would you NOT want to romance Ashley?

Lots of people seem to be in the same boat these days. The reason? I want to stay single just so I don't cheat on her in ME2!

What has "romancing" Ashley, or whomever, have to do with staying single?
I'm just finishing ME1 for the second time and then I'll go to ME2. If you bring over whatever it is you can save from ME1 to 2 is there still the romance with Ashley if you started one with her in ME1? Even if that were so, does it limit the romantic interludes with others in ME2? (if there are any?)

I haven't played ME2 yet so I can't really answer that. I do, however, know that you can't romance your ME1 love interest in ME2, but they'll still be your love interest first and foremost. In ME2, you have the option to romance a bunch of other characters. Doing so means you have explicitly cheated on your original ME1 love interest. This, as far as I know, carries over all the way to ME3 and will result in consequences.

I wouldn't worry about the "consequences" much. It probably won't have nearly as much of an effect as people are suspecting. All potential LIs from ME1 are given extremely limited cameos in ME2. With regards to Ash + Kaiden, you can tell your Yeoman that the past relationship is over, but I'm assuming that doesn't stop the "cheating" business (if you can call that cheating) since their portrait in your cabin still gets turned down if you "cheat" on them.

You can continue the romance with Ash if you want, but you only see her
one time in the game. It has no effect whatsoever on relationships in
ME2 - the only one that acknowledges it is your Yeoman. I think Joker
might have a snide comment on it too.

I don't get how it has to do with staying single either to be totally honest. Two years in comotose after one night of sex and you're still on the hook.

How is it "one night" of sex? LOL!

I'm sure you realize the Normandy destruction scene takes place a full month after that "night". Lots and lots could of happened during said month.

Well Ash only refers to your "one night" I believe when you speak with her on Horizon :b.

Sounds like I'm missing something ME2-related here. OK, enough spoilers please. lol

Because I'm the luckiest person alive, I haven't played that game yet, despite me putting over 200 hours (overall) into its predecessor over the past three or so years. Soon enough, though. Soon enough...

Not attempting to spoil anything, but you may find yourself wanting to cheat on Ash after you meet her on Horizon.

I will only cheat on her in one "unofficial" playthrough, just for the sake of, well, you know...

There's a very simple way to avoid romancing Ash while still talking to her. First when you meet her and when you return to the ship pick only neutral options. Second durring your first conversation with her (aliens on the ship) choose the "You're out of Line" option on the left of the conversation wheel. Finally durring the second conversation pick the middle right option (This may still work if you pick the top right option but do NOT pick the middle left option. "Kaidan hmm?" I believe). You can then Paragon to your heart's content you will never get her back, at least I haven't.

After that Bob's your uncle, Fanny's your aunt, and Kaidan can occupy a crater somewhere

Heh, I'm in the same position. Despite having purchased ME2 on launch day, I've yet to even fire up the game once. I'm completing all of my ME1 playthroughs first, then jumping into ME2. Not long to go now... I'm on my 4th and final playthrough of ME1, and I'm about halfway through the game.

Fortunately I'm the kind of man who isn't too bothered by spoilers, although I do try to avoid them. I've already been spoiled on several major developments in ME2. Image IPB

I'm pretty sure Ashley only has sex with people who believe in God.  When that conversation comes up just say that you "disagree but respect her opinion."

Other than that I chose all the right responses but it never turned into a romance.  (The fight with Liara never happened)

Yeah, take it from me - you need to completely ignore them, at all times! I wanted a ME1 60 lvl save that had my shepherd free as a bird (so he could partake one of the more *desirable* choices in ME2), and so I was ignoring Ashley (and Liara) throughout the entire game, but after Virmire (during which I had sacrificed Kaidan) I consoled Ashley aboard the Normandy by choosing the dialogue that basically says "ah ash, you know I couldn't have sacrificed you" - I felt bad! I regret it though, because of that mistake I have her picture up in my quarters in ME2.

killing her is an option... although kaidan is absolutely useless to me (infiltrator so liara ftw for biotics) and i actually use ashley (now doing a sniper team playthrough) at the moment so i wouldnt do that unless you like kaidan.

the other option is to what you are doing (if you do want to talk to your team) and reject her when during that scene right before joker tells you that captin anderson wants to see you at flux (you do know what im talking about, right?).

well, thats what i heard. not sure anymore...

On Horison I wanted a renegade option so i could have told her I should have left her on vermire instead of kaiden.Image IPB
