If I hit Play from the launcher, my computer thinks about it for a moment and then comes back with a could not connect error.  The actual game does not even appear to try to start.  What do I need to do to get past this error.  (I downloaded the game from Stardock.)

There are several threads on this, and some sollutions have worked for some. I my self still get the message after soon 2 days of trying to fix it.
