I have yet to pick up the Pinnacle Station DLC for ME1.  A friend has it and has promised to give me the low-down.  But here's what I want to know about it.

In my current play-through, as a femShep Renegade Vanguard on Hardcore, I want to hit 50.  I'm already 35 and have plenty of assignments between me and Virmire, including BDtS.  Will Pinnacle Help me achieve this goal, or will it just take time away from other things?

After I finish that play-through, I'll be starting a fresh maleShep Paragon Infiltrator (which is how I first beat the game on Veteran) on Insanity, with the intent to take him to 60 over two play-throughs.  Again, I'm wondering if Pinnacle will help me in some way, be it earning more XP or picking up Spectre Master Gear X items.

If it helps, my Vanguard's team is Kaiden and Wrex.  My Infiltrator will be accompanied by Liara & Ashley first, then Garrus and Tali.  What can I say - I like a challenge.  ;)

Leveling is the best way to get X Gear. On my playthrough I'm at the max of 999 medi-gel and 9,999,999 credits. I have so many X weapons and X ammo and armor mods its not even funny. I have to waste X weapons, ammo and mods constantly because of inventory build up. I'm so overpowered nothing can touch on me on Insanity! The only unique and scarce items seem to be rare omni tools and biotic implants. The rarest items tend to be the X armors, at least hte good ones. Pinnacle station is fun. Nothing great. Easy gamer points. Its almost impossible on Insanity. Lower the difficulty to Hardcore or less and you can beat it easy. The "First Contact War'" mission is a letdown, no story etc. If you are above level 55 getting all your X gear is a snap, you shouldn't rely on DLC for that. Just curious but have you gotten REALLY into ME1 since ME2 was released? I played a couple quick playthroughs of ME1 when it was released, but ME2 has really caused me to re-appreciate the game and I've played it more now than when it was new! That said Pinnacle station is neat. If you are super rich you can get random rare items after you complete pinnacle station using a contact system that costs 200k per use on your "condo". I'd say its worth it if you really love ME1 and want everything from it. Like I said, its also a very easy 150 gamer points.

You can easily hit 50 without any dlc, heck on a starting from 1 you can get to 57, maybe 58, the dlc does push it to 58. The level X spectre gear is level dependent so once you hit 50 it should be available from the Normandy Quartermaster and the Csec officer.

Pinnacle station is really, really rough on insanity. If you're planning on trying on insanity, you will need really solid tactics and should absolutely save your tungsten and shredder VII ammo. The volcanic hunt mission is the real killer on insanity. Personally I'd skip it. (There is nothing there that you can't get somewhere else with a little persistence.)

The first time I played ME without DLC I got to level 45 at the end.

When I played a second time through I was a little more thorough searching for extra missions and assignments and hacking everything for extra XP. I also had Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station this time. I finished the game at level 50. It probably would have gone higher, but that was a whole new character. Levels 50-60 unlock if you re-use the same character. But I wanted to try out a Vanguard female Shepard to see the differences. I like how replayable the game is because you can try different things each time and see something new.

My next goal is to do a third playthrough with an all renegade character (first two were paragon).

I like the Bring Down the Sky DLC because it has a proper story. Pinnacle Station is good, but it is just like extra training rather than contributing to the storyline. The apartment you can win is cool though. It's fancier than your cabin anyway.

Some of the simulations were extremely difficult to beat! There's one time trial where you have to run around a tropical locaiton killing at least 25 pirates in under 1min 20 seconds. After many many tries I managed to scrape it in at 1m19s. That was only after going off and leveling up a bit more and coming back with more powerful shotguns... the difference was immense!

You would make it easily in time if you used a Pistol + Master Marksman.

There is no point in playing Pinnacle on Insanity unless you are masochistic. You get no award or achievement or acknowledge in game or otherwise. That said the 220,000 cred terminal is useful, enabled me to get the most powerful heavy armor in the game after gambling 440k.

Pinnacle station has very minimal XP rewards. You don't XP from killing stuff in the simulations. So if you want it for XP purposes, skip it.

Good for gamescore AND you do get the admirals 220k random elite package deal thing, which you can buy whenever. Scored some of the rarest items in the game from it. So its worth it in that regard, especially if you are over cashed!

How would an Infiltrator fare?

Also, is the Spectre Master Gear X available from the Normandy or C-Sec Requisition vendors once one hits level 50?

Really, Bioware should be ashamed about Pinnacle station and refund their fans who paid for it.

Whether Pinnacle Station is worthwhile or not depends on the kind of player you are. If you enjoy a good challenge and beating records, you'll probably enjoy the DLC. For someone like me, who HATES trying to beat records and the clock, it's largely a waste of time. I only got it and finished it due to my perfectionist nature. >.< I BARELY squeaked past it on Veteran; for Hardcore and Insanity difficulties, I just cheated myself the Geth Supergun and breezed through the missions. The only one I actually enjoy out of all the missions is Ahern's mission; I always beat that with normal weaponry.

But that said, once you do beat Pinnacle Station, the merchant console you get in your apartment is a nice way of spending your mountains of credits.

If your gonna go ahead and download Pinnacle Station then I advise you to not waste too much time on it. This is not a good DLC and I would just drop the difficulty on challenges like the hunt "volcanic" level. Enemies do not spawn enough on the hardest difficulty, its completely broken mate.. not fun at all.. Just get your XP and then get the hell out of there :P least enjoyable part of the game imo.

It's dubious as to wether or not its worth five dollars, considering the full game cost 60. (my Used copy cost 15 bucks so 25 bucks for the full game and all DLC didn't seem to be unreasonable).

That said, the 220k elite item deal at Shep's apartment is nice for VERY HARDCORE players of Mass Effect. Like me. lol.

Same here, bought it as well :) Still a disappointing DLC, especially compared with the excellent previous one.

Yea its definitely disappointing. Fortunately ME2 will seriously deliver with free DLC, and probably some expansions that are considerably more substantial than what ME1 ever got.

Yeah but I think ME2 needs DLC a lot more than ME1 ever did. ME1 out the box was a finished game, ME2 feels so small in comparison its like they decided to release the other half of the game later.

More DLC for ME1 would have been welcome of course, but it's very essential for ME2.
