 Hi,

I wonder if you could help me with optimum settings for my PC? My specs are as follows:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+
Memory: 2GB RAM

GFX Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS with 256MB memory

Is there anything else you need to know?

Thanks!!

The game has an automatic configuration that is adequate for almost all systems. It will set you to Low-medium resolution and medium image quality, which should play just fine.

Well it wasn't running very well even when upgraded to 4GB RAM, so I'm building a new machine! Highlights are:

- AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.8GHz

- 4GB DDR3 RAM

- HIS Radeon HD5770 1GB

Hopefully I can play this game on max settings tomorrow!!

If you wanted to max it out, why settle for a High Medium video card? It is the video that handles fully HALF of the performance that is readily perceived in game play, so you should have chosen a High End video card.

The HD5770 is comparable to the HD4870, which is the card I have, and I play at max graphical details and my card has only 512meg.

You really don't need a so called High End card for DA:O if you want Max settings.

And yes....some people forget that price can play an important part when getting hardware.

Not everyone has unlimited funds ;)

I built my own system, i find using gforce works nicely. A card in the $100 - $120 range will run most games at max. Also using at least 4 gigs of ram is imperative, and a quad core helps (price for this one really is not a problem. Check the deals, i found a quad core for $20 more than a double core).

The last time I checked, the cost difference between an HD 4870 and an HD 5770 wasn't a serious amount, and the 5770 still had only a Medium Card's worth of bandwidth (128 bit memory system).  In my book going for the "Max" is going to be high resolutions, and with a 128 bit memory system and modern game design, that limits Mediums to 256 MBs for the most part, and High-Mediums to 512, occasionally, which doesn't equal fiull support for high resolution.

Half way through setting it up now, its a quad core and will be running Win 7 64bit so CPU shouldn't be a problem!
