I think it is stupid that he does not hsave a personal quest.. He is a very unexplained character in DA:O (unless you read the books), and I would like to learn something more about him, or his intentions..

Whats the point of raising his approval if theres no quest, and it is impossible to get 'friendly', but only warm?

Its not impossible to get friendly with him, in fact its very easy, and he is one of the most in depth characters in the game, he does not have his own quest because you can only get him near the end of the game.

o he is not.. He is not explained at all in the game.. Only that he supposedly abandoned Calin for tyranical purposes, and was selling elves.
I read both the books though, so I know him well.

It's possible to get 100 approval. But he stays warm and doesn't go to friendly status. I think that is what the OP was driving at.

As for personal quests, well, he sees saving Fereldan as his personal quest, doesn't he? Pity he makes such a pig's ear of it until you recruit him.

You get him too close to the end of the game. Not worth having tonnes of dialogue for something many players won't do.
