I previously thought I had a 1600; a LOL stupid mistake on my part. But I was looking for your guy's opinions on the HD 2600 XT. For me it handles highend games find, but do you think it can handle Mass Effect 2 or Assassins Creed 2? I'm too lasy to look up the requirements.

It could but not well. You'd be talking low settings in AC2, and maybe low-mid in ME2 if you're lucky.

i am playing me2 with this card. it runs smoothly most of the time with all settings on except for anisotropic filtering set only at 2x. but still looks great.

It's an old card. I suggest something more recent.

It is not so simple to just get a card. Yes sticking it in is easy, but now and then extra issues might play a part, like your Power supply unit. I do not believethis forum has a techno magic tread like we have on sorcerers.
I had one, and it still runs with a friend of mine. As I recall it had no 6 pin power input.
So if your power unit is not to weak, say 350/400 watt of an A brand unit, you are good to get medium/high-ish end card like the Ati radeon 5770, that will run any game out there on at least high. if not a 5750 will run a lot of games in high settings. Those cards are dx 11 and will last a while.
Nvidia has no cards in the latest generation to speak about at this moment, (please no ati/nvidia war here)
