Any way to bind true "reverse" movement?

The Default keybinding supposedly maps "s" as "run backwards"  This is not true. It's actually mapped to "Spin around and run forward towards the player" :)
Is there a way to map a movement thet presereves facing,  but has characters move "backwards"
