That said, don't sweat it. You can't really "gimp" yourself on paragon/renegade in this game, as long as you consistently take the same path, at any given opportunity. The game doesnt really support a "mixed path" alternative. Whether you pass checks is based on how closely youve followed a given path all game, not some absolute value. The bonus points just give a little padding.
If you started at 150 paragon, but "zero" renegade, you wouldnt be "gimped" if you wanted to play renegade, and get all the dialog options.

I've gone through a couple of times, so I know about the import points bonus, but I was more worried about late game. If you could earn 100 points by time X due to the history background bonus instead of 50, then some choices may have been limited.
Judging from other posts, it doesn't sound like they worried about it as much in this game; especially if you factor in the lack of ability to set a history on a new character.

No, If you started at 150 paragon, but "zero" renegade, you wouldnt be
"gimped" if you wanted to play renegade, and get all the dialog options. The bonus points just give you a little leeway to miss a few checks. But in my opinion, you'd have to try really hard to not get all the dialog options.
Unless you're trying to do some sort of "neutral" path. In which case, yeah, you'll have trouble. The game just isnt designed to reward that philosophy.

http://masseffect.wi...om/wiki/Shepard - If you check this link, you'll see that in ME1, with the Spacer/War Hero background, you gain a large bonus to Paragon throughout the course of the game, while an Earthborn/Ruthless background would give a similarly large bonus to Renegade.
I don't know if that's still the case in ME2 (And for once, the wiki doesn't have the answers).

Spyndel - I think you've missed the real meat of the question (Or, I've misread your response)

No, I didnt miss the meat of the question, I just sort of ignored it, and skipped to what the OP was *actually* worried about, as he himself confirmed a post above.
[Edit] (Oh, dont forget to max your class skill, of course, if anyone really needs to be told that.)
