So I just started to play ME 2 today for the first time, I load a previous game from ME1 and I noticed my level and ablities are gone. WTF? Sorry but I really tought all the work I did would carry over into ME2.... so disappointed... Did I make a mistake?
Or do you really start over from scratch? And is spectre intimidate and charm gone?
Also, all the minerals and such from ME1, doesnt matter?
What happen to everything from ME 1?

All your abilities are gone. They are completely different in Mass Effect 2 and thus are reset through necessity. If you import a high level you start with a higher level in Mass Effect 2.
There are no intimidate and charm anymore. They are replaced by a new mechanic.
Minerals from Mass Effect 1 do matter, if you completed the mission you get a bonus to your mineral levels in Mass Effect 2.

Did you just go around picking up those minerals and gasses for fun without even knowing it was an assignment?

UNC: Valuable Minerals is what he means although I don’t know if that’s true or not about the minerals being added.

Im unfortunately going to play ME1.... again... Is the mineral search worth the time? I know where they are, but is what you get in ME2 worth the effort in ME1?

just keep playing ME2, finsh the game you are on now. It is NOT really worth all the time and effort to go back into ME1 just to get some extra minerals.

The only thing that really carries over from ME1 to ME2 are the choices you make during the story.

Whar, othen than Thresher Maws, could challenge me by the end of ME1? On the citadel I was plowing through Geth Primes like a scythe and even "goofy Saren" was no match.
If I were starting ME2 with all those abilities, I'd be fighting Blue Suns with 100k+ hps - and how much sense would *that* make?
