Of course, bioware could have come up with a much better decision, but I will let the story play out with my noble. He could very easily find my dragonbone greatsword splitting his skull in half, but we shall see.

I hope we have the option to kill him when we meet first meet him, like Zevran. I had him alive in first playthrough, realised my mistake, and killed him before even waking him up to talk to him in every other playthrough.

Not joining the army dosn't make you a sissy, Ambushing you're "friends" family while they sleep, however, does. Then hiding behind you're Mage's skirt when its time to face the music further adds to your sissiness. Admiring someone who employs these tactics makes you a sissy by proxy.
You are assuming that Nathaniel knows what Howe did to the Couslands. He doesn't. He assumes that whatever happened, they must have deserved it. Because he saw a different side to Arl Howe than we did.
You can blame someone for another's actions all you want to. But that does not make the person you blame truly responsible for it.

But it sure feels good to have something or someone to blame.
I'll give him a chance to prove himself, but if he gets out of line I'd be more than happy to turn him into a woman with my maul.

If the Couslands raised their kid to be like that, they deserve to die.

Most PCs would have matured enough to realize that Arl Howe's actions were not Nathaniel's fault. Therefore they wouldn't blame him for them. I dunno about you, but I can't see a blood thirsty vengence crazed immature PC as commander of the Grey Wardens.

Seriously! Mauls are so not the right weapon to use to do that! Bryce and Eleanor clearly would have instructed their kids to use dull daggers. Dull, rusty daggers.
