...And it relys on a massive dose of luck. Now, every time I try, I get down to a sliver of health before everyone is frozen, and killed by the Scion while I try to kill the frozen collectors.
Why does Bioware insist on making me destroy my television? Because that's what I'm about to do, and I'm probably going to do it using my 360.
Well, I tried. I know you can do it with a little patience, just take a break and try later.

@thisisme8: I took a break from Kingdom Under FIre: Heroes when I couldn't get past the Ellen underground mission (Over 30 tries), the break was 2 years. When I came back I finished on the first try.

I'm sorry for all the yelling and rudeness and whatnot; as you can probably tell, I was not a happy person. At all. I'm sorry I took it out on everyone who was trying to help.

You might want to try getting rid of the first Scion asap. Most people will tell you to leave it alone and focus on the collectors but the scion is going to be what's killing your teammates and as a soldier you'll be out of cover shooting alot more than the other classes. So Adrenaline Rush + Snipe scion then focus on harbinger & co.
Agree with this. The conventional wisdom seems to be to focus on the scions last but I have found them very problematic, so I go after them all 3 team members until their down (good to have miranda or someone else with warp, because you can go after the scion's armor with it) then take on the drones and other henchmen, leaving harbinger last in each wave (so you don't have to deal with him more than once per wave). Of course, once Harbinger is close to being on top of you, you do have to focus on him.
Position your "tank" (Grunt, Zaeed, whoever) up on point, your biotic or tech support team member as far back as possible and put yourself wherever it appropriate for your plan of attack (i.e., if you're sniping, give yourself some space and if you're going after them with shotguns, then get up front and keep moving behind cover -- a LOT).
As long as you are behind cover, you do not have to worry about most of Harbinger's fireball attacks BUT the black one that knocks you out of cover is DEADLY, so you must avoid it at all costs or you'll get lit up while you're stunned and out of cover.
Keep this up and always remember to keep hitting your attacking powers, instead of just relying on shooting (especially since you don't have too many ammo/weapon upgrades yet) and you should be able to survive. Try to make a made dash for ammo between waves, so you don't get caught shorthanded.

I finally did it. I got really lucky, but I did it.

Well done! I guess you can ignore my advice then.

I'm getting my ass kicked, and I need some help. I did Horizon, then several side-missions, then picked up Tali. As soon as I pick up Tali, the Illusive Man calls, and I'm literally forced to go into the Disabled Collector Ship mission. I have 2 Assault Rifle Damage Upgrades and nothing else, so my Revenant can't hit the broad side of a Barn. My team-mates die within seconds, and Harbinger manages to kill my shields as soon as they've finished recharging, so I basically sit behind cover waiting for something to kill me because poking my head out will get me killed. I have the Cain, but one of several things happens. A.), it doesn't charge, and I die trying to get it to charge. B.) It does charge, but I die before I can get the shot off. C.) I get the shot off, but it breaks the game, leaving the platform with the first 3 collectors tilted.
What the fsck do I need to do to survive this section of the mission? And please don't say anything relating to doing something before Tali's mission, because my only save before that is on Haestrom, so I'm forced into the very situation that's kicking my ass.
The game automatically jumps you into the Collector Ship after X amount of missions. Why didn't you recruit all of the characters first? You will get more upgrades, money, experience, squad members and unlock loyalty missions faster. I never do any side missions until I have recruited all of the characters (minus Legion of course)...it was just common sense.
Besides, how do you only have two AR upgrades? If you are a Soldier focused on the AR, shouldn't you have put your attention to upgrading your main weapon? You can get at least three AR upgrades before the Collector Ship: Mordin's recruitment mission, the weapon shop on Illium, and choosing the Renegade path on Zaeed's loyalty mission. With how the game works before it throws you into the Collector Ship, you can recruit every character and still have time for a loyatly mission or two. IIRC, I did Jack and Grunt's loyalty missions before being summoned to the Collector Ship. That also means that four AR upgrades are available, since you can go to Tuchanka before the Collector Ship...
Proper planning prevents poor performance.
That being said, since your already past that point, it still shouldn't be too terribly difficult with Hardened AR. Just burst-fire the Revenant. Don't come out of cover until AR is ready to go. Snipe far away enemies or ones who only want to hide and peek their heads up every now and then. Down Harbinger ASAP, since he will always rush towards you. Use the Cain for the Praetorian. Though that's really not necessary (but it speeds it up tremendously) since Praetorians are easy if you just run in circles and duck from the lasers.

I'm a bit of a completionist. I prefer to do all side missions as soon as they're available. Doing so has never given me any problems with any other game. It's actually kind of interesting that this game punishes me for that.

I only had 2 because of poor planning and poor spending habits. And honestly, one of them I didn't have the resources to research (the one I got in Tali's mission), so I was really only working with 1. That was my screw-up.
Also, can a Paragon do the Renegade path in Zaeed's Loyalty mission and still pass the higher Paragon and Renegade checks later in the game? I never do the Renegade path because I'm afraid it will screw me over in the long run.

And I just found out how poor my planning was. Learn something new every day. In fact, considering how badly I screwed this up, I think I will restart. I hate that I did this badly.

I actually managed to get off the ship. It wasn't easy, but I had a lot more room to maneuver, so I managed it.
Again, I do appreciate all the help. Obviously, I need to change how I approach the game. I may not be a particularly big fan of how this was made apparent to me, but I have to admit that it was a really effective lesson.
