Strategically the only way I could foresee someone fighting this many of them is having them funnel down a single path this allows the defender to minimize attempts to flank this means in this fashion we outnumber them. The only place you can do this is at the citadel by doing the same thing that Saren did minus the indoctrination/betrayal part.

Have them come through and meet your massive fleet that was given thanix cannons.

Think Battle of Thermopylae Mass Effect style.

Create a giant ruse stating that the Geth and Krogan are sending a fleet to capture the citadel.

Reapers think this would be a great time to strike.

You could use the Migrant fleet to assist in the citadel evacuation.

Have your Krogan allies act as a ground team in case the citadel fills with husks.

Have your Geth & Rachni fleets upgraded with Thanix cannons waiting on the other side with Turians & Humans in reserve.

When you activate the citadel Reapers start showing up, there is a chance that the reapers might teleport behind the main fleet, that is when you move your reserve forces in to block a flanking maneuver.

Meanwhile you work your way back to your gunship and travel back through the conduit and fly back from Ilos on your reverse victory cruise.

Someone better make the Klendagon mass accelerator (the one which sheared a valley into a planet) operational again.

Also I am down with us destroying some stars / making some blackholes to kill them.

Invention of a black hole gun would fix that problem.

You already have that.  The blackstorm singularity projector.  All you would have to do is make it sizably bigger.

But seriously, I hope that we get a satisfactory ending to the trilogy. I'm all for another Battle-for-the-Citadel type scenario, because it was so dramatic. Then again, I'm also all for making the Turian councilor the endgame boss, so my opinion probably doesn't matter that much B)

well, the Reapers ARE built to resemble fish. be that giant, robotic, psychopathic fish. maybe Shep should build a giant hook and put a Threser Maw on it near a black hole and lure them in?

I actually think the keepers should have a role.

that might not be a bad idea. I mean the Reapers created them. Be kind of an ironic twist if they were the key to defeating the Reapers or something.

They kinda have to be the key. Otherwise, why would that Salarian scientist email us with the "data" he collected that we were already confirmed of via Vigil?

Thanix cannons can be mounted on fighters and wasn't there a refence that the original SR1 Normandy drive core could have made up 15,000 fighters? Easy enough to distract the Reapers with large vessels they would feel need to be targetted first. Likely wouldn't expect a storm of of fighters to hit them with the same amount of fire power they are packing.

Yep. The odds aren't fair. It isn't chivalrous to fight the Reapers, when you have Boo on your side.

There is absolutely no way all the Council and Terminus races combined could defeat that fleet. Sovereign decimated an Alliance Fleet on its own. There will HAVE to be some other way to defeat them, maybe implanting Shepard with Reaper tech or some other deus ex machina as a direct confrontation would result it...bad things.

Trying to overwhelm the Reaper fleet with brute force is a desperate and risky strategy.

Instead of a 'big bomb' or 'luring them into a nova/black hole' trap, why not turn their technology against them?

Learn enough about the relay system to hack the Citadel - have it disrupt the mass-effect corridor WHILE THEY ARE IN TRANSIT, hopefully vaporizing them. They can't maneuver or defend themselves.

The tricky part is making sure they ALL GO THROUGH, or having a big enough fleet to transit the other way and mop up their reserves.

the downside with that is the timeframe. WE don't know if the the Reapers have access to other FTL technology or even another relay network to encroach on our galaxy or if they'll just have to fly in at sublight speeds. IF they have access to other FTL tech then the amount of time we would have would be severly limted. The Protheans were just barely able to unlock the technological secrets before they were wiped out, and as far as we know, they were one united race. We are many different species and most of us don't get along. It would take a combined scientific effort from all species to do that and we might not have the time. I still say that mining the area around the citadel and then luring them through is the BEST option. it presents the least amount of friendly casualties while inflicting the most amount of damage on the enemy. The citadel would prolly sustain HEAVY damage, but it would destroy the enemy.

Anyway the idea of space combat with the Reapers lasting more than half an hour is a joke. They are pretty much a one shot, one kill race . The human cruisers with powerful mass accelerator cannons (which ripped through Geth ships) were chipping away at Sovereign for awhile and it was only AFTER Saren died that the shields went down.

I think if we look at Saren's example, if we assume his death (being Sovereign possessed) was part of the weakening of the ship, perhaps you can kill a Reaper's "avatar" or whomever it possesses and get that ship to be weakened? Someone has to sacrifice themselves though...

We'll just upload some dark energy into their mothership.

no. We'll just capture one of the smaller ships and fly it close enough to the mothership to upload a virus and disable all their shields. then we'll just instruct our pilots to do KAMAKAZIE missions into their primary weapons.

wait.....

Now that sounds familiar. Hm...

What scares me the most about this scene is that with so many reapers, and with Sovereign having destroyed so many ships by itself, I am afraid a virus of some sort could be the only thing that could destroy them. Of course, I would be very disappointed if BW decided to end the ME trilogy with a damned virus. Unfortunately, I cannot imagine any other way of defeating that many reapers.

Again have to stress the Thanix cannon. It allowed a damaged and worn frigate class vessel to destroy a Collecters vessel the size of a cruiser. The Thanix cannnon when mounted to a fighter or frigate gives it fire power surpassing a cruiser.

Now mounted to a fleet of inexpensive fighters and you got quite a surprise brewing and its the thinking outside of the box needed to defeat the Reapers. Remember humans introduce the idea and concept of fighters to the rest of the galaxy so appearently the Reapers would have no influence in there evolution. How would they know a single fighter is capable of hitting them with a beam of near equal destructive power as there own main cannons?

Its about the only way I can see that stands a chance of stopping the Reapers. Only problem is that it seems as if no-one is building anything. I mean 2 years and it seems that the Alliance has not even replaced 1 of those cruisers it lost? And dont forget they do not really seem to think much about the idea of a reaper fleet coming.

Basically looks like its going to have to be the one shot catch them in a system and blow up a star to kill them. Of course now that we know there is a limited number of them this stands a chance.
