I know giving every enemy armor on Insanity makes the gameplay more challenging but why the hell do they have to give husks armor?  They're already big annoyance as they are so is the armor just intended to make them more so?

Story wise it doesn't make much sense either but Shepard does say that they're more evolved than the ones you fight in ME1 so i geuss they have hardened skin or something.  They're still helluva annoying to put now, the flamethrower helps a lot though.

What do you all think?  Should husks just have a single health bar or do you enjoy the challenge of fighting them on Insanity?

I love fighting them on insanity. My first playthrough as an Adept, I was truly scared sh**less during the Reaper IFF level. At one point, both Grunt and Mordin were dead and I was back pedaling desperately firing rounds from my Carnifex to tear at their armor before slinging a singularity. One of the few moments in ME2 that I was "emotionally engaged with the amped up intensity" :P

There's plenty of ways to deal with them. My favorite as an engineer is to bring Tali and/or Legion along to have multiple combat drones up at the same time. I think each one can occupy 3 or 4 husks at once. The ones that ignore the drones still have to run around them to get to you, which takes them a while, so they all end up clumped together, begging to be incinerated. Or if you take Grunt, you can send him out in front of you, and he kinda serves as a combat drone on steroids. Squad Cryo is also good if your class can have it.

the reason they have armor is so that you can't simply negate their numbers with one ability. on insanity you could give them 10x their normal health but w/o armor they would still be cannon fodder in the face of insta-kill abilities like throw, singularity, pull, and incinerate. learn to set up your squadmates in positions where they wont get overwhelmed and tailor your team to taking them out. I personally like Mordin w/ aoe incinerate and Grunt because with 3/4 or 4/4 in Fortitude he is almost unkillable and his charging attack helps avoid your party being overwhelmed.

on the reaper IFF for insanity, I would launch the blackstorm twice to shed armor and suck them up. As vangaurd I hopped around like a mad man shotgunning, running, charging, reloading, meleeing, REPEAT. soldier I used the revenant and ran around like a mad man with incindary ammo. Its good to shoot the legs, tho.

Well i'm playing a Sentinel on Insanity an Miranda is allways by my side so i got TWO unstable warp. Also the exploading sheild helps a bit when they get too close.  Maybe i wouldn't find them so annoying it weren't for those damn Scions, the husks force you out of cover and make you easy prey for that one-hit anti sheild blast.

As an infiltrator I found Tali and Mordin worked well. Two area incinerates, with the combat drone to bunch them up led to some great BBQs.

Have to say, I've never understood the frustration with husks. First time fighting them I realized immediately, "oh cool, shoot for the legs" or "oh yay, Cryo Ammo owns" or even "Throw and Shockwave are godly." And then a few weeks later I started Insanity, and I realized they all had armor, so of course I was like, "oh man, THAT's what everyone is complaining about...

...and then I fought them, and realized how simple they still were--they're slow, clumsy, melee creature for godsakes--and how little I had to alter my tactics, and THEN I was like, "oh man, THAT's what everyone is complaining about!?"

Seriously, someone please explain to me: what the hell is the problem with husks? I just don't get it. All you have to do is run backwards without firing a shot and a whole pack of 30 of them will never hit you while running in circles stumbling over each other--and that's without doing anything remotely offensive. Basically, no matter what you do wrong, the one solution while fighting husks will always end with "...well, if that's not working, try running backwards." You might reconsider your tactics if you're having trouble, because they're full of suck.

As for the idea of them having armor on Insanity--hard modes are meant to be hard. Come on, you can't really be that bewildered, can you?

The only time Husks are scary on Insanity is the fight pack on the Biotic Escort, where they come with 4 Aboms and a Scion. That's Cain territory.

Yeah, that's the only time I had to reload at this mission, because I got sloppy :) If you wonder about my pick of henchies, I must say, It was realy nice to take Thane and Samara on derelict reaper and the suicide mission - warp-bombs all the time! Husks, Collectors, Scions... They all love wrap-bombs.
I had serious problems with them on Horizon, but at that time I was learning how to match the team (and not being frustrated about replays). I can understand people having problem with their armor, because - of course - it makes crowd control almost impossible. But I've never used a single cryo against them, hell, my sentinel build doesn't include cryo, but as Ramikadyc says - everywhere husks arrive (except the biotic escort and couple of places where there's like 3 of them) there's a plenty of space to run around, strip them of their armor and remember they still die of one throw/area throw. I recommend taking N7: Abanboned Mine assigment and train there a little.

Still, husks are fun to deal with.

I never had a problem with husks by themselves. I didn't even have a problem with husks supported by a praetorian. It was the husks and scions mix that gave me fits, especially if there were two scions. The husks would force you from cover. One scion would shoot you, stunning you. The second scion would shoot you, stunning you. Then, it was a toss up whether a husk would kill you while stunned or the first scion would. I hated the spaceport on Horizon.

Question, what game version has the Husks as "Zombies"?
Guessing international, but what language?

Husks by themselves aren't exactly hard, it's when you got a Scion in the background then things go dicey.

Husks' armor isn't much really, just takes a little work to unpeel them before eating them ...

Sentinel (using AR+AP ammo): Shoot off the armor then Throw them

Infiltrator: Incinerate off the Armour and turn their soft insides into ice-cubes with Cryo ammo.

Vanguard: Burn of the armor with Incindinery ammo, then Charge, Pull or gather them in a pack and Shockwave.

Get used to them, they're ain't threatening, just irritating.

Polish. "Husk" in our language is closer to "shell", but "shell" in Polish feels... Too tamely, so I guess translators cut corner with "angsty zombies". There are more places in the script where translation feels out of context, but I guess this is not the place to discuss that, and I have a whole list of things where PL localisation could be done better.

I will henceforth think "angsty zombie" when I see husks.
