In all the trailers I have seen of Awakening, the PC is always shown as a warrior of either the Sword and Shield tree or 2 handed tree. To my knowledge, Bioware never portays the dual wield aspect in the trailers.

Not complaining or anything, just pointing it out.

naaa thats not true, there are several new dualwield talents.... i think most simply didnt play dualwield with warriors cause they had a rogue doing it (i only played a dual wield warrior when not having a rogue in the party in da) - at the ign preview or somehwere else, on of the editors allready pointed out that the dual wield tree became more interesting as he didnt like the old one...

Isn't one of your new companions a dual wielding warrior?

My warrior was always duel wield since alistar was the sword and board and 2 handers was just to plain slow for me to get a fix :D, besides Marics sword and Star fang just looked awesome. Not to mention the aoe, single target dps and lock down ability of a duel wield warrior was very nice.

Hopefully there are going to be some good duel wield changed in awakening but i already know there is alot of 2h changes so wont be to bothered if there isnt.

honestly, i wanted to play sword and shield or t-handed, but with dual wield you get to hold 2 weapons which means more attribute bonuses then 1 th...moreover with dual-striking you just do sooo much more damage then with 2h... with dual striking i did pretty much the same damage as with a 2h-weapon (star fang) with 1 hit, altough of course your hitting way faster...and punisher is also very nice, making around 180dm, not to speak of momentum...

Rogues make good archers.

Dual Weld Warriors is silly, and a waste of a good tank. But with armor now having Rune boosts too, you don't have to worry about holding two Boosted weapons to hemp up your stats.

If you start with an elf warrior the best build with the initial abilities is a dual wield warrior. So I hope this char type is playable without limitations.

I played a dual wield warrior on my recent playthrough. Why? Because I wanted to wear warden's armour with 2 swords, ho!

Oddly enough, despite being vastly superior to 2H Warriors, DW Warriors are fairly rare in the game as a whole. The next time you play through DA:O pay attention to how many DW Warriors you see and/or engage. There aren't many. Almost all Warriors are sword-and-board or 2H, and everything that's DW is a Rogue.

Eh? DW warriors rival a dagger/dagger cun rogue backstabbing in DPS while at the same time not requiring the positoning requirements which make them ideal to use as companions over rogues. As for tanking... utterly useless. If you have a mage in your party you don't need a tank you can CC and/or outheal everything. Wasting a spot entirely for a tank is a waste. Although if you really insist a DW warrior have very good dex and with the new spirit warrior spec they'll be very good tanks, likely rivaling arcane warriors except being able to do decent dps.

DW elite warrior enemy would be too hard to kill, before he kills you & all your companions.

dw warrior does most dps

2h gets more stuns

shield + gets more defense and stuns

but honestly, my dw warrior never had big issues with defense, cause with items and everything my defense was close to 100 so normal enemies hardly ever hit me... i am wondering therefore anyway, if it makes more sense to put points into dex for defense or constitution... cause with oghren i put everything into consitution and with my dual wield warrior everything into dex - both had above 40 and i got the feeling my dw was harder to kill then oghren

Imagine a DW Revenant with two Great Swords. Now that would be a challenge.

My DW warrior wields two long-swords and has a longbow back-up. She sliced, dices, and pins holes in enemies left and right. She has the templar/champion sub-specs, and she is usually the last one standing, aside from my STR/DEX DW rogue. With "momentum", "holy smite", "rally", and "war cry", she is extremely powerful.

Even on nightmare the game is easy enough, even for me. She is a STR/DEX build, and with her I never needed a tank at all. I even dumped the mage because it was all too easy.

Best tank in vanilla Origins was a DW warrior imo. 6x runeslots + high damage. Could get spell immunity and 30% dodge from items, + your high dex you'd get another % of dodge, and your strength would be high too, ie, use axes to do even more damage. It was pretty deadly.
