Wild west theme rpg would be awesome since there arent many games with that theme and would be nice to see something different.

I dont think a western would really fit Bioware's story telling style.

While it would be something different I think a big problem with Bioware making an RPG set in the Wild West is that most great westerns tend to have a more lone wolf style characters as their heroes, anyone else who tags along with the hero is usually only there for either comic relief or to catch bullets.
I dont think a western would really fit Bioware's story telling style.
Some Wild west storys are bout lonely heroes tho there are also other kind.
For example famous movies:
Gunfight at the O.K. Coral which is for me best Wild west movie had 2 equally good heroes Wyte Earp which casted Burt Lancaster and Doc Holiday which casted Kirk Douglas
Also you had The Magnificent Seven where you had story bout more heroes.
And i think Wild west history theme is big enough for Bioware to make good storys with bit of imagination and that would be something which would be interesting to see ,

Bioware should take the gameplay style and engine from mass effect 2 and create a stargate game. nobody has been able to pull it off yet and there is certainly a large enough universe already created from the show to base a story off of. there's a large fan backing to make a profit from it. only problem some may see with it is that it may feel like mass effect with a different twist. im sure a clever developer can find a way around such an obstacle.
Such game would not be unique in any way , would be just one more scifi rpg ( ME , Fallout ) and Bioware would need to obtain license.
Imo they should stick to their child ME which got enough fans alredy and can be developed in more storys even after Shepard or they can always make another Kotor since they have SW license .

Actually I think Bioware would be well suited to making an interesting and unique game within the Stargate universe. I actually quite like the idea.
Though it would probably be better if they diddnt just copy and paste the gameplay style from ME2, they should probably go for a more unique gameplay style.

Red dead redemption is coming out soon and it looks pretty good. But I'd still leave the wild west genre to Rockstar they seem to be doing well with it. It's a very different genre from the usual fantasy and sci-fi games bioware does, so I do not think bioware would be good at making one since they have never made one.Phantom_1 wrote...
Well just idea , i think that lots of rpgs have been used for long time medieval , fantasy and scifi themes,

I for one would like to see a good steampunk fantasy game. I wonder if bioware could pull one off?

Oh god. That would be the single biggest mind 'splosion game in the history of gaming, but it'd be pretty good. Maybe. Depends who does it, when it's set and where it takes place.Cuthlan wrote...

No. They could not do it justice. Same goes for Dark Tower movie or mini series. 6 hours of The Stand and they still needed to butcher the story to make it kinda fit.
It would be a nice change of pace. To do it Dark Tower like would add a lot to it tho with its mystique. To say it can not be done then you should look up the Wild Arms games.

Theres all kinds of room for it to fit into In/mid/out-world setting of Rolands world. Eyes of the Dragon is a good example. Its your stock fantasy setting but exsists in the same setting.

Now let me say that, at least from the first book (which was all I could stomach of it, sorry fans) of the Dark Tower series it didn't seem wild west AT ALL.
I'm thinking no magic, nor supernatural creatures - maybe a little steampunk on the tech (like Wild, Wild West or Brisco County, Jr. (minus the Orb and time travel)) ...
I think it'd be awesome. Or could be.
I don't know if Bioware's the company to pull it off, but I'd give it a go if they tried it.
As for "lone wolf" aspect of westerns - that's neither entirely true, nor is it outside of the realm of CRPGs (or even Bioware CRPGs) to make single-player stories.
I'd think Tombstone / Magnificent Seven / Young Guns style story would work for a Bioware, party-based wild west CRPG.

It was not a pure Wild West story. Sort of a supernatural post apocalyptic fantasy enriched world.
A Brisco County type would be great. Always a fan of steampunkish stuff. Great now I need to go see if its on DVD.

@addiction21; Yes, I know about EotD, but it really wouldn't make much of a game setting because so little of it is ever mentioned. If King collaborated heavily on the project then maybe it'd work, but I think a Dark Tower game (sorry, another Dark Tower game, can't forget Discordia) would be a much more "unique" direction.
