Ever since playing Warcraft III, I officially disapprove of talking and or persuasive swords. They are not to be trusted.
I know suikoden 3 had a talking sword
The whole point in Wc3 is getting the guy with the speaking sword. Never heard of Frostmourne?
Edit: www.wowwiki.com/Frostmourne
You just linked a world of nerdcraft wikipedia page when we were talking about wc3. They aren't even related to each other in the slightest bit. Therefore, you lose all credit discussing this issue and there is no talking sword in wc3 now.

I always found them stupid. How do they talk? Do they have a mouth? But then they are too flexible to fight with. If it talks and doesn't have a mouth then it just totally wierds me out. Where the hell is the voice coming from? My character would probably think he went mad.

I would guess the sword just vibrates to produce sound waves.

Anyway talking weapons is always awesome.
Enserric from NWN was very interesting addition, one of my favorites for RPing reasons is the corrupted ashbringer in world of warcraft though. Loved that sword on my old paladin

Either that, or it'll be a jerk & drink your ale before you get any.Korgaah wrote...
Would Much rather have a talking Ale Mug... then it could tell you if the beer is skunky before you drink it!
Anyway, didn't any of ya learn anything from Shrek 1 & 2? Just because somethin can be given the power of speech doesn't mean it's always a good idea. Shrek got lucky in his case... kind of... donkey is sometimes annoying, but sometimes funny, & sometimes got good advice.
If talking weapons were put into the game, but their dialogue failed to be cool, then it would really stink to not be able to get the weapon to shut up!
I personally can live without weapons talking in the normal sense. I prefer my weapons talking through action!
