Greetings, all - just looking for some input on how I'm doing in my ME1 play-throughs.

Current Play-Through: FemShep Renegade Vanguard, Hardcore difficulty.

Goal: Hit at least 50, unlock Insanity, earn achievements for Kaiden, Wrex and Completionist.

Current level: 40

Remaining Assignments in Queue: Everything in Artemis Tau, Privateers in Horse Head Nebula, Hostile Takeover in Gemini Sigma, Rogue VI, gathering assignments and Bring Down The Sky.

Next major stop: Virmire.

So... how am I doing?  I'm getting out of the Mako when I can to take down Thresher Maws and Colossi, but sometimes my impatience and frustration gets the better of me and a couple of Geth outposts have felt the wrath of the Mako's main gun.

Thanks in advance for your comments!

You should probably hit 50. You won't unlock insanity unless you are playing on hardcore and havn't chnaged the difficulty. I'm poor at judging experience/remaining content though. I just know the max you can get with all bonuses and the approx level people tend to leave the Citadel at early in the game. Level 25-50 I'm pretty wishy-washy on.

You can always use the Mako to reduce Threshers and Colossi to a sliver of health before getting out to finish them. The kill shot is all that matters.

I'd do Rogue VI next. If you don't know why, I'll leave it as a surprise. Tech skills are good for that mission if you have problems with it. Plus you shold be getting VII level drop about 40, so you can stock up VII weapon mods. Keep at least a couple VII shredder and tungsten ammo around for ever. I usually keep a couple VII cryo rounds too. You can't get them later and/or their equivalent is not as good.

Perfect post, Karstedt. I don't think I need to say anything else.

I've done Rogue VI before, my first play-through was on Veteran.  I've been Hardcore this entire run, and while some of the fights have been somewhat punishing, I'm confident I'll be finishing up soon.  Next up?  Insanity as an Infiltrator, probably twice so he can hit 60.  Then I import both Shepards to ME2 and just go to town.

Thanks for your post.  It's quite appreciated.

Oh i'm not sure, I find infiltrator to be one of the hardest classes to play.

I did insanity with an adept, it's worth noting that when you play an adept yourself you will pay more attention to your powers.

Edit: If you are going with the adept, FemShep is a must, Light armor is just.. wrong on males.

Infiltrator is a pretty easy class to play on any level provided you have a good build.   It lets you take any companion you want.  If you go something along the lines of:

Pistol 12
Sniper 12
Armor 8
Fitness 12
Electronics 9
Damping 12
Decryption 9
First Aid 0
Infiltrator/Commando 12
AI Hacking (bonus) 12
Spectre 4

Concentrate on pistol to 12 for master marksman, armor 8 (to unlock fitness, medium armor and advanced shield boost.)  Fitness to 12 for master imunity,  Infiltrator to 6 and spectre to 4 (for unity.)  That should take until around level 18.  After that I would focus on Electronics and Decryption to 9 for master overload and sabotage.  The rest can be taken as preferred.

This build strategy gives you good damage from pistol from master marksman, excellent protection from medium armor and master immunity.  AI hacking is taken as a bonus since it improves the recharge time of your other tech skills.

Early you'll need someone else to cover the tech skills for unlocking,  Kaiden works very well since he can also provide some biotics for crowd control.

I like the look of this build, but I might change it up a little and put more points into electronics first for the boost I get to my shields.

It's pretty much my preferred infiltrator build. There is some wiggle room in when you allocate points. If you decide to push a skill past where I did in the build damping can be stopped at advanced at 6 points pretty easily. I just find master damping to be useful since it provides a short duration stun over a fairly large area.

Oh, I wasn't questioning the distribution of the points, just the order in which I'd spend mine...

Ah Ok, some people like to have a little more in spectre, the most common way is to take 6 points from decryption and 1 from armor. This will still give you medium armor and advanced damping, and 11 in spectre which will improve weapon damage somewhat. Not my preference but it works to.

I'd drop hacking before decryption. It's more versatile and effects multiple enemies. Of course, since you don't have to strip shields before hacking, it's pretty cool too.

That should have said damping.

Me again. Just hit 47 last night in my Vanguard run, having earned the achievements for Wrex and Alenko. The last Cerberus outpost is all that remains between me and Virmire. Of course, my wife continues to question why I'm playing this game again while the "superior" Mass Effect 2 exists...

Superior is such a subjective thing, in several ways I prefer ME1.

Not if you want to stay married safer to take a break and take her to dinner.

Nah, she means well. She's just rather opinionated.

Finished my Hardcore play-through last night. My Vanguard's final level was 52. When I begin Infiltrator on Insanity, I'll have the benefits of a 20% XP bonus, 5% more weapon damage, 20% more shield strength, 10% more health, improved cool-downs on Lift & Throw and regeneration of 1 HP per second.

Got to admit, I'm kind of looking forward to it...
