I got back into gaming after a long break after about 7 years ago. I bought an XBox classic and now we have a couple of XBoxes 360s around the house. I chose the console because of simplicity and have loved every minute of gaming on it. I still continued playing the odd game on the PC such as Sim City and a some RTS games.

However, just before Christmas someone passed me a copy of ME1 for the XBox and I loved it. I looked at other Bioware games and decided I would get DAO, which after some research, I decided on the PC version and it is just fantastic - modding, high quality graphics etc.

I am currently on my second playthrough of ME2 for Xbox and again just loving it. After my XP with DAO and modding and such like I would really to try ME (both versions) on the PC, but I just can't get to grips with using keyboard and mouse for control after using a controller. I bought an xbox controller for the PC, but b*gger all games support it in any meaningful way.

My main problem is really the keyboard for movement - looking round and shooting with the mouse is easy enough, but I really struggle with movement. I have to stop moving to select other things from the keyboard and God forbid that I have to hunt for a key - I'm dead :/

I would be grateful if anyone has any tips as to why would be sensible buy for peripherals to help me. I have a good PC with plenty of grunt.

Sorry about long post.

If your mouse has more buttons on it than the standard 3, you can re-map commands/keys to it. My mouse has the forward and back buttons, and I have reload and melee set to them respectively.
Technically you could set forward to a mouse button, though you still would have to use the keyboard to strafe.
Anyhow, logitech and microsoft both have good game controlers you can get for the computer. I don't mean ones for the x-box either.
Don't be sorry about the long post, as it wasn't just one long paragraph of endless text.

Thanks for that, it has given me some good pointers. I searched Google and there was a plague of mice, rats and other rodents on offer and been bitten by the odd one that looked tame in the past.

Didn't occur to me look in the obvious place :/ Logitech and Microsoft stuff looks pretty solid.

You're welcome. I have one of the Logitech rumble pads and I used it in KotOR. It worked pretty good but ME is a shooter comparatively and is best with a mouse.

If you get a mouse with a lot of buttons you can assign the buttons to the keys for your powers so you can just use the keyboard to move around.
