Misc. query -
Do the fire DoT effects inflicted by inferno ammo stack? i.e., I'm using a vindicator or shotgun with inferno ammo, shoot someone and all three/eight bullets hit flesh - does the DoT for each bullet stack or is only the latest DoT applied?
Thanks for your time. =)
Incendiary/Inferno Ammo DoT stacking?

Last time I heard someone test it, it does stack. Forgot who said it though. (For reference, DoT of Reave also stacks with another Reave, so I don't see why Inferno should not)
But does it really matter? The CC effect is the reason why you get Inferno over AP ammo after all.

That and the sweet sweet AoE.

It's a good question to be honest. If it doesn't stack then the DPS bonus of inferno ammo would vary inversely with your rate of fire.

Except you can only reasonably CC one enemy at a time on Insanity, where all the enemies are shielded or armored by one layer.
I honestly DON'T think they stack As I notice an incredible damage difference on assault rifles/SMG's with Warp Ammo (Which applies just a static damage bonus) compared to Infernos on the same weapon. I find that Inferno's are fantastic for slow-hard hitting weapons. Like the Claymore/eviscerator, Hand Cannon and Sniper rifle(s). But Warp shot (Even lower level) is far better on rapid fire weapons. Particularly the Tempest SMG and Scimitar Shotgun. (Warp ammo or AP is interchangeable, I just like Warp shot for it's added effect on Barriers)
That said, all that is off fairly liberal observations in the heat of frantic combat, if someone can math my observation wrong, I'm more than willing to accept that.

re: does it really matter, I agree that the CC on inferno ammo is amazing and I'm not going to go all AP AMMO ON A VANGUARD OWNZZZ or anything regardless, but it does potentially alter the choices you make on what weapons to use (specifically - predator vs carnifex, mantis vs viper vs vindicator).
further questions: assuming the DoT doesn't stack it still does full damage to armor, right?
also: does anyone know how the 'spread' on inferno ammo works? does it damage flesh? does it damage armor? etc

The exploding CC effect seems to affect enemies regardless of their protection levels apart from mini bosses and Krogan/Varren. The 60% armor damage is applied instantly anyway, and who cares how much damage the dot does, it's the CC/panic effect that makes it so good.

The devs have confirmed that the inferno ammo DOT is applied instantly (rather than over time) to armor.
I think it would be very odd if the DOT's didn't stack on health, but I can't say for certain if they do.

Personally I'm more curious about how inferno ammo works. It causes the target to explode, potentially igniting secondary targets but does that ignition damage armor or does it bypass defenses and ignites targets through their shields?

as far as i can tell it just bypasses the protection, does no damage to either protection or health, and makes them scream like a sissy girl.
but yeah, i also would like to know if the dots stack, i think they do, but dev confirmation would be cool.

If incendiary bullets didn't stack it would be significantly worse to use SMG's compared to Pistols. Its not.

Every bullet from incendiary ammo adds a damage-over-time effect to the target that stacks. However, if you hit a resistance type the damage is applied instantly.
