Everyone:
I know that players will be able to import their DAO characters into DAA, but there are a few questions I still have:
1.) If you import a character from an incomplete storyline, how will DAA take into account that the character is from an unfinished quest? I suppose it'll easily port over the character's existing statistics, weapons, armor and whatnot, but what about the incomplete storyline itself? This is assuming that DAA takes into account decisions made in the DAO storyline that impact the overall story universe (i.e. how the Archdemon is slayed, Alistair's future afterward, along with those of other characters).
2.) When importing a character from a finished quest, is it best to do so from the actual epilogue file, or saves made from the post-epilogue file(s)? (I have a PS3 and, thus, intend to complete RtO before tackling DAA, but I can only do this from the epilogue file from my completed quest, since the map is locked down once you undertake the Final Battle.)
Your insights are much appreciated, folks.

1) A default version is introduced. The game will make the choices for you.
2) I was wondering that myself. I do not know.

1.) I think you will get the so called cannon choices like what will get if you start a OW.
2,) I would think post epilogue.
2,) I would think post epilogue.

Ferret said that in the epilogue save file, all of our decisions are accounted for, so those of us on PS3 can play RTO from there and make a new save file to import to Awakening with no problems.
As for the first question, the game will fill in the decisions you didn't get to with default choices.

1. All stats, specialisations etc port as normal and you are raised to level 18 if you are a lower level than that. As for important decisions - any you made will be ported but those that weren't made will be made for you (using the same default as the Orlesian Warden's)
2. You can pick whichever save you want.
From the FAQ:
2.2 – How do I import my Dragon Age: Origins character into Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening? (Back to top)
It's the same process to import characters for each platform. Players will go to New Game, select Awakening, and then click on "Import Character". Then players select from a list of available characters. Players can also choose an advanced option to choose a specific save game instead of the most recent save game for that character if they
desire.

Which means you better make a savegame specifically for the purpose of starting awakening... Strip your companions of their equipment, sell everything you won't be using, collect whatever you left in the storage chest...

Everyone:
Thanks for your responses. I will especially keep in mind the idea about stripping characters of their goods and selling stuff I won't use, then using that particular save as the one I import into DAA.
Quill74Pen
P.S. Just to clarify: The file you import into DAA brings *everything* with it, including weapons and gold?

@Quill--
As far as we know, the file you import brings *everything* that's actually on your person or in your shared party inventory, *except* DLC items, *unless* the items are from RtO and then they're magically "acceptable" even though the older premium and pre-order DLC (WK, StonePriz, BDA, Edge, etc.) items can't be imported.
So, Yes party gold and Cailan's Armor. No Dead Thaig Shanker or Dalish Promise Ring. No to anything in WK chest or other add-on chests, unless you pull it out and put it into inventory first.

Thanks for the information — after all, every little bit helps! As for the fellow above me in this thread, I don't know the answer to his question. Can anyone else give him a hand?

As far as I understand it, no you can't bring your choices without the MC playing Awakening (not 100% sure though). If you chose to start an Orlesian Warden it will be default choices made for you & his starting level will be lvl 18
