Patch 1.03 for the PC is live. Here are the notes

- Various changes have been made to code and resources to support the DragonAge: Origins - Awakening expansion pack. Most of these changes do not affectOrigins itself
.- Some players were experiencing increasingly long load times. A major cause ofthis problem has been fixed.
- At higher levels, non-player characters now receive a bonus to armor penetration. This mitigates an unintentional imbalance with well-armoredhigh
-level characters, since armor penetration previously did not scale as aggressively as armor itself did.
- Elite-rank enemies (lieutenants) can no longer be shattered. This preservesthe intended tactical design of many combat encounters
.- Portraits for summoned creatures (like a ranger's wolf) were displayingimproperly while in the party camp. This no longer occurs.

I just brought the Steam patch notes up and saw that.  GJ Blizzard!  It'll be nice to not have to close the game every hour or so.

Blizzard?

If Blizzard made this patch, life has just gotten massively weird.

I have not noticed that.  I had played the game for over 4 hours before. Strange.... Every system is a little different...

I was sort of hoping for some tweaks to the shapeshifter class. But overall the patch seems decent.

I am somewhat surprised the preview/beta fix that one of the Devs posted in the tech forum months ago that helps with that wasn't included in this patch (or if it is it isn't mentioned in the patch notes).

If you truely are looking from an unauthorized DLC workaround see the FAQ in my sig.

Theres still many bugs which havent been fixed, +healing received , xbow dmg, attack speed are just a few.

Granted none are major but unless Awakenings fixes them it is rather annoying.

keep in mind that by fixing " a major cause of " the " increasingly long load times " does not mean it is a fix that will benefit everyone...

call me a pessimist... or a cynic .

but, based on the memory leak fix posted a few days ago, memory problems will be platform dependent... if you PC System is running with 1.0 GB of RAM or less, i will bet you 1 doll-hair that you will see little benefit from their "fix"... although i hope i'm wrong...

i run with 2 GB, and i see the problem if i do too many location changes, but it doesn't seem to be game time dependent; it doesn't appear to be a leaking bucket, but instead a lack of proper cleanup and release of memory space...

oh, and also, i should note that the "memory fix" i mentioned didn't actually fix the problem with the game, it merely hid it under a bigger blanket, per se....

thanks for the patch info... and the fact that it may effect DLC...

If you have issues with it breaking your DLC, try the beta fix for the DAO Content Updater... it fixed it for me.

In what way? I installed the patch and just checked my game. All my DLC is still there (Stone Prisoner, RtO, Warden's Keep, some of the other items) and appears to be functioning.
