Just out of interest, why doesn't the downloader automatically download the patch...? Or at least it doesn't seem to?

Probably because it doesn't kick up with the launcher, unlike WoW or something. That's probably why.

Fair enough I suppose, it does just seem slightly odd is all that it doesn't register that there is an update to the game itself when you fire it up, even.
Not that it's a big deal particularly, coz teh internetz tell meh but it seems a bit of an omission given that the game has a downloader on it.

Eh, I think that may be because there aren't a lot of uses for the downloader. You can download some mods on it and the few patches that are made, but that's about it. It is not paramount to have the downloader, unlike in WoW where patches are made nearly constantly.

Installed the patch and played for several hours. Most noticable are the better load times (finally yay!) and the changed level up screen. Great work!

Not patch related: I still can't update my characters from ingame to the website or upload screenshots, but that only worked for me the first week after purchase or something despite me trying several options on the technical forum. As long as I can download dlc and stuff with no problems its not a big deal for me though, just a minor inconvenience that I still don't know is a problem with my settings or a game problem in general on some systems.

I played for about 3 1/2 hours straight tonight and also had no issues so far witht he patch. Loading times do seem to be much quicker as well.

Try the instructions in This Thread. I had to use it just a couple days ago to fix three of my characters.

I don't think I'll be dl'ing this patch.  I don't like any of the balance changes, and *none* of the needed bug fixes are addressed.  Plus, it might break my mods and DLC's.
Only good thing this patch would do is decrease loading time... and my PC is powerful enough that I don't have much problem with that atm anyways.

Yeah but apparently it's a good thing to do before Awakenings...
I will do it but roll it back if there's a problem...

Updated via Steam, loaded my latest save and Allistair was naked from the neck down which seemed rather odd. Loading that save again a little later and all his gear was in place.

Working on a new character with the new patch installed, no problems thus far,  and I too like the new screen for the specializations...etc.   Loading times seem much improved and it takes me being ingame MUCH longer before I notice a slow-down and therefore have to restart the game.

Did have another crash to desktop...due to running out of memory I guess.  I have 3 gigs ram...but of course Win Xp only recognizes 2 gig of that.

I guess that confirms that the Disappearing DLC bug was not fixed in this patch.  *sigh*

This is a cross post from the Xbox360 forum- I was wondering how this patch is working for those of you who have downloaded it. Pros? Cons? Before I play online again I want to hear first hand accounts of what's happening. Thanks in advance!

I noted above that I played for over 3 hours last night and experienced no issues. But I'm on a PC.

Downloading it for PC has done nothing for me except spark graphical glitches, and made some endgame enemies even easier to kill. Can't say it has any positive effects at all (for me) which is annoying considering how long it took to come out and the number of bugs that have yet to be addressed.

Can we just get a fan-made "baldurdash" style fix-pack?  Those seem to do the trick faster and more completely, especially for little bugs like +healing effects and cross-bow issues.

One new bug incurred by the patch.

After removing a weapon, the "damage" in character sheet doesn't change at all.

Well, I've installed patch 1.03 and the DAUServiceDiagnostic_beta ... While I had no graphics issues whatsoever, now my PC quad processors jump from usual 60 degrees to 90 degrees (celsius) as soon as I start the game. WTF was the "major cause of this problem" that they fixed?

Hmmm... Loading times is what people keep saying has been improved... could be that your system is so jacked up that you never saw the big delays to begin with...  and loading times (scene changes) is where i saw my biggest delays but only every now and then... Hmmm... we'll need to wait and see if they've fixed the memory leak / memory management issue, or did they just streamline file management to better align to WinOS standards... (i have a friend that does this for a living for AMD Graphics, so it's apparently a career oppourtunity...)

So, i'd be interested if anyone still witnesses increasing load times (i.e. increasing from the new baseline) as they play the game and roam about for extended periods (like 5 or 6 hours) without exiting the character or game.  Any takers ?

Granted any improvement is better, but there seems to be some rather significant bugs showing up also... i suppose i'll just have to wait for Awakenings until the Beta test is complete on Bioware's 1.03 patch... (and this is directed at Bioware for distributing such a flawed patch... quite unacceptable for a mature product...)

Hello everyone! Hopefully this is the right place to post a strange bug that occurred to me after installing patch 1.03...

Basically the stamina/magic meter of all my 4 party members appears empty, even though I can actually use active and sustained abilities without a fuss. Stamina and magic are certainly there, but I can't see them!

Any idea?

I haven't notice any significant change in loading times, but to be fair I haven't tested that much. My long loading times were not as extreme as others have reported despite having a mid-ranged system.

Since the only major thing the patch seems to address is the loading times and it also appears to cause a large number of minor bugs I question the wisdom of downloading 1.03. It almost makes me wonder what the hell the patch team has been doing for the last few months, considering bugs such as healing gear, crossbow stats, summoning tactics resetting and many more have been reported and acknowledged since game release and not addressed at all.

Maybe they don't consider those as bugs? Argh!
If some more people could please monitor they're system temperatures and report if there are any significative changes, I'd appreciate it. Since I'm down in Brazil" where it's hot as hell (with many meanings to that) I already have a number of extra coolers in my rig but will need an open case to play DA or I might fry my processors.

Hmm, my characters still sometimes stand idly during combat. Just when are they going to fix that? Maybe that's not an important issue for Bioware.

Can't believe they didn't fix crossbows. WTF is their problem with getting this done??
