I checked today and for me the skill pickpocket work correctly. the probleme I have is for the tallent Cleansing Aura. It doesn't cure injuries anymore.

I think my loading time are not reduce, and in 6 hours of game only one crash to windows on the 6th hours and I do alt-tab many times so...

don't know if someone pointed it out before, but the not-so-rare crashes that were introduced with this patch always seems to happen in combat and (almost) always when i use pause. its something like: pause at the begging of a fight->give orders->unpause and wait for ordes to be carried out->pause again->crash (while still in pause, or VERY shortly after unpausing for the second/third...time). it happens in a "small" fights too (like the fight in the back alley in elven alienage, where i fought like 4 guards, yet it still crashed a few(!) times during this fight in a manner i described above)

...and the loading still gets abnormally long after 1 hour or so (memory usage is at 100% by then, thats where the lag and veeery long loadings starts), but the crashes can occur even at "normal" memory usage level.

What a stupid way to prepare for the release of Dragon age: Awakening.
Release a buggy patch which everyone must install before they can play it Image IPB

Anyone with any sense will wait  for Bioware to clear up this mess before handing them over more money.

I was running several mods. Just to insure that this was not the case, I disabled them. Since they were still occurring, I removed the game and all reg entries and settings. After reinstalling it sans mods, I can say that my issues have not disappeared. My problems are still that pick pocketing is broken, lag is still present, load times are longer from game start-up. I have not progressed far enough in my new characters campaign to visit the camp and confirm it will crash when I visit, but since the other issues have not corrected I am not hopeful for this one.

Interesting.  Well, I guess I am one of the lucky folks who hasn't had a problem yet.  Although i rarely use pickpocketing as I never found it useful.

Good luck to you folks.

22 Years as a specialist in communications and relationship-building watching media like The Internet, eMail, mobile phones, IMs, forums and "social media" develop from nothing and I would think I would not have to rely on a ouija board for my communications with BioWare. Image IPB

I do not think the software industry's problem with communications can be blamed on their access to communicate. I think the problem is allot more fundamental than that. Image IPB

So glad I read this thread as I was looking to purchase this game for me and a friend. Definitely wont be purchasing it until they fix a lot of these issues and will be recommending to friends to hold off until they make some fixes (hopefully they will). A lot of great stuff to read in here and I don't see my self spending the insane price their asking for a game that is plagued with that many issues and bugs and an expansion on the way which I would need to spend more money on when you have all brought up some great points on things needing fixed and addressing.

I heard a rumor that patch v1.05 will be a sheet of paper, a short pencil, and a 20-sided dice.

For what its worth I think DAO is a great game, one of the best I've played in a long time.  I also don't have a problem with the price.  My only reason for not buying Awakenings is because of what I've read about patch 1.03.  I still have no real idea how many people are experiencing problems with the patch (although it sounds like the pickpocket bug is affecting many people).  I'm not going to have any idea about any of this until Bioware comments.

I guess its also worth pointing out that I have no significant issues with the current build of DA (1.02 for me).  My load times are fine, and am not in a position to play long enough to worry about a memory leak.  So as 1.03 doesn't address anything I'm interested in I've no reason to install it.  So right now that's reason enough not buy Awakenings.

Seriously now, what's up with the spamming? The problems were summed up on the first 5 pages, why this thread continues?
I'm pretty sure BW is aware. Since you can't issue a recall over this, they don't fell the need to come out with public statements.
Yes, the patch borked things, but the spamfest on this thread doesn't help fixing the issues, in fact it just makes them worse! It's "Announcements" forum, I can't find the word "Whine" or "Complaint" there.
Some folks, like me, just use RSS to see if there are any news, but instead of seeing "Oh, there are no new posts, then there are no news yet", I see "There are 100 new posts with ZERO input to the problems or any news at all"!
Thanks for that DA:O community, I really had that spare time to go through all the needles posts made here!

Also, imagine BW trying now to sort out the mess (which is within the bounds of acceptable probability), they want to know what problems are present, or they want to notify the community of something important, they look at this thread (and the other one) and all they see is SPAM, no data on how to reproduce new issues if they were discovered, no place to post news (because most people who want news don't look at a thread with 300+ posts)!
If you feel the urge to whine about the patch then go to off-topic forum create a thread and put all your complaints there, and leave only the technical details about the bugs here or the support forum (preferably there). If you want to notify BW that you won't be buying Awakening, or that you have any other complaint that you want to express to them, then send them an e-mail.

I haven't received it either. It says 1.03 is released for pc and 360, why is this not the case, although from what I've read in this thread, not sure if i want it downloaded.

No mods no cheats all drivers updated just crashes after patch 1.3. I have been playing for the last 3 months with maybe 2 crashes, and that was after 6 hours of continuous play. I like what the patch did now duel weapons actually do some damage, but there are still some bugs things not showing up like keys for chest. The dead do not always show they have items to be scavenged until you leave the area and come back.but the patch did help game play except for the crashing that is making the game unplayable.

I see where you are coming from with this but those of us who are playing on the XBOX have had 0 luck getting any responses from the Dev's on the large number of bugs we have in the Tech forum, I'm not sure completely sure about the PC forum as I dont read that too often.  Go and check out the XBOX tech forum though, let me know when you see any response from a Dev as regards to one of the many posters begging for just some sort of response, hell even a "we are working on x problem" or "x problem will never be fixed" would be awesome at this point.

Max_ai, I agree with you to a point. Once a large number of customers start complaining about a product they purchased being made unusable due to a "patch", then the least they can do is pull the patch or put a warning out with it. Instead it is still a banner that is displayed when an unsuspecting customer plays the game. No word from EA/Bioware does not cut it with a game so tied into the internet as DA:O.

I agree that the problems with the patch have been made abundantly clear. Since this patch was touted as a precursor to the "Awakenings" expansion I highly suggest we stop posting here and instead post warnings on sites like Amazon as soon as reviews are allowed!

Plus keep in mind that although the Bio devs are almost definitely aware of the issues, they probably need someone high level to green-light a fix. A thread with many people complaining and justifiably hesitant to buy Awakening because of this might be a pretty important factor in justifying the commitment of resources to resolve this.

By the way, Awakening on Direct2Drive has been delayed by 2 days to the 18th for some reason. I wonder if it has anything to do with this.

I'm having some issues with the DLC armor sets, somehow I keeps RtO's gear but Alistair is nude where he should be wearing my Warden Commander's armor (eyes burned!)

It's because of the patch right?

Sorry if it has been asked/answered before but it's a long thread...

You have articulated the typical point of view of a software tech.... without informed understanding of the deep-seated need to communicate. This topic is more than catharsis, coalition building, or aimless whining. The topic is circulating the Blogshere. In terms of my job as a PR executive, we call it a communications crisis.  It will affect sales in units - aside from the fact the game has earned its bona fides "chops" and the Brand really should enjoy a massive lifespan. Tip of the hat to all the fans who love this game strong enough to get on here and express an emotion – many brands aspire to this achievement. Unfortunately, BW does not appear to appreciate that this crisis is being brought directly to their feet on their own forum. So it will impact the financial results by February 11, 2011.

One person wrote that the DA brand is meant to retire itself after 2.  IMHO, this is a pretty sad comment for all the work that the BW team has put into development.  Sad, for sure, if it is true.  IF that is the marketing strategy, then DA will achieve its targets.  IF that is not the strategic plan, as I assume from the Brand extensions in licensing, then DA-BW is on course for failure.

No one is expecting technical miracles but no one likes to be kept in the dark while BW works hard on making those technical miracles.  The model of communications this whole industry seems to be focused around is "message-recipient distrust" and a total disregard for engagement (except, as I noted in a previous post, with Investor Relations). This attitude comes off as arrogant - even though what you are saying, max_ai, has relevancy and logic for support.  The simple perception of arrogancy, however, does not paint BW in a clear and pleasant light.

It is possible to be right and be considered a pompous prat to whom no one will listen. It is possible to put considerable effort towards building the better mousetrap but having no buyers due to a failure to a communicate with them.

Communication is what this whole Topic is all about, IMHO. That is the point.  15+ pages should alert even a casual observer that a massive problem exists.  And there should be official communication about it BEFORE the news media start to enquire. Ignoring communication will deepen the current crisis.
