I heard a rumor that patch v1.05 will be a sheet of paper, a short pencil, and a 20-sided dice.

Seriously now, what's up with the spamming? The problems were summed up on the first 5 pages, why this thread continues?
I'm pretty sure BW is aware. Since you can't issue a recall over this, they don't fell the need to come out with public statements.
Yes, the patch borked things, but the spamfest on this thread doesn't help fixing the issues, in fact it just makes them worse! It's "Announcements" forum, I can't find the word "Whine" or "Complaint" there.
Some folks, like me, just use RSS to see if there are any news, but instead of seeing "Oh, there are no new posts, then there are no news yet", I see "There are 100 new posts with ZERO input to the problems or any news at all"!
Thanks for that DA:O community, I really had that spare time to go through all the needles posts made here!
Also, imagine BW trying now to sort out the mess (which is within the bounds of acceptable probability), they want to know what problems are present, or they want to notify the community of something important, they look at this thread (and the other one) and all they see is SPAM, no data on how to reproduce new issues if they were discovered, no place to post news (because most people who want news don't look at a thread with 300+ posts)!
If you feel the urge to whine about the patch then go to off-topic forum create a thread and put all your complaints there, and leave only the technical details about the bugs here or the support forum (preferably there). If you want to notify BW that you won't be buying Awakening, or that you have any other complaint that you want to express to them, then send them an e-mail.

I see where you are coming from with this but those of us who are playing on the XBOX have had 0 luck getting any responses from the Dev's on the large number of bugs we have in the Tech forum, I'm not sure completely sure about the PC forum as I dont read that too often. Go and check out the XBOX tech forum though, let me know when you see any response from a Dev as regards to one of the many posters begging for just some sort of response, hell even a "we are working on x problem" or "x problem will never be fixed" would be awesome at this point.
I think not. Excellent question for Twitter @dragonage AND @feliciaday (1,744,042 followers). It was her recommendation that influenced my purchase. She loves this game. #PatchPwnagexleox1 wrote...

I feel you pain. Even more so as a PS3 owner. Have you checked out the support in the PS3 teck forum by anychance? Good luck finding any at all there. I was also going to buy Awakenings becuase I love DA and it's a shame on bioware. This game should and could have been much better had they provided suppport.
I guess this is what happens when you sell out to EA. I guess I should have not been surprised but I got this game on a little faith. Shame on me!

I have to believe that the communication in the industry now is tenfold better then it was before Internet forums existed???
Anyway, are those having problems 100% sure they don't have some mods or other hardware issues causing said crashes?
22 Years as a specialist in communications and relationship-building watching media like The Internet, eMail, mobile phones, IMs, forums and "social media" develop from nothing and I would think I would not have to rely on a ouija board for my communications with BioWare.
I do not think the software industry's problem with communications can be blamed on their access to communicate. I think the problem is allot more fundamental than that.![]()

Yeah, I know the PS3 tech forum is a ghost town as well.Truly a shame that the Bioware customer service is currently so weak for the consoles. My buddy has a PS3 and having played it I can say for sure that both versions of the game are excellent, not quite on the level of the PC but thats to be expected. Hopefully we all get some answers soon.

Technical Support is handled by the publisher, in this case EA (which also now owns Bioware). If you want official support you have to contact EA directly via http://support.ea.com/. Very rarily Bioware developers or qa people will venture into the forums to offer technical help, but the support forums are for the most part just for us users to help each other.

That is shame really, how can EA fix a bug if they are not the developers that programmed the game?
It is much easier for the creators to fix bugs because they know exactly what is involved in the game.

EA isn't supposed to fix the bugs. Technical Support is the front line people who deal with the customers and help them with their technical problems trying to run the game. (And lets not get into how effective they actually are at that) They then report to the developers (Bioware) the kinds of issues that people are calling in/emailing about, and then Bioware determines which bugs go into the next patch. And I don't intend to say that Bioware is ignoring the forums, there is at least one person (Victor) reading the forums and reporting back the issues that come up here. Its just the actual posting here related to technical problems that doesn't happen very much.

What Kepha outlined is how most major game developers work. Major distributors (EA, Activision, Sega, etc.) buy up the smaller development studios (Bioware, Creative Assembly, Infinity Ward, etc.) as subsidaries. The distributors have the funds and staff to handle marketing, front line tech support, publishing, etc. so the development studios can concentrate on the game development. Tech support and QA testers are usually handled by the distributor. Since only a small portion of the gaming public come to a game developers forum, most of the tech support calls are handled by EA and they will field the highest number of issues...which are then fed back to the distributor.
Whether you want to believe it or not, this forum is just a small slice of the millions of customers that purchased Bioware games. So, when people moan about no one "listening", I find it ironic as I have had conversations with the head writer on DAO here on this very forum and most of the other writing staff and designers have been active posting. That is very rare. And, they have stated they do read the forums but the fact is that they can't possibly know all the various hardware/software configurations of every poster's system on here. So, it is hardly a controlled test environment for troubleshooting.

I understand what you say but it is not a very good way to fix bugs quickly or even if they will ever be fixed.
It seems to me to be a roundabout way for developers finding out the bugs in the game, if they have to wait for people complaining to EA Technical Support and if the technical support think that a bug needs fixing and then reporting the bug to the developers.
I am sure that technical support will only try to fix the very bad bugs and leave all the small ones unreported.

So far no BioWare feedback in that thread, but I'm following it quite closely** and am hoping to get the devs to take a look at it. I'd urge anyone with issues with this patch to post them in that thread along with system specs (your rig's particulars, OS, etc. as well as any mods you may have installed). The more detailed feedback we can provide in one place, the better it will be and will hopefully help get a quick fix out for this patch.
**Note: I'm not a BioWare or EA employee. I have moderator powers in many of the forums, but I'm just a regular gamer like the rest of you.
