Shades: no, it's not the wrong place. But I'd just suggest people (also) post in the other thread with system specs and as much info as possible. That way we can hopefully get the system/mod usage info, along with the 1.03 bug issues, all in one centralized location. Maybe it will help sort this out quicker.

While you are here, could you please find someone that can just give a simple explanation as to what's up with the Xbox 360 patch?  It still hasn't appeared, and the notes also lacked any changes from the previous patches.  That second part is significant because the Xbox version has received exactly zero bugfix/balance patches since release (still version 1.0).

You should probably include a cut/past of your DXDIAG log so people understand what kind of system you have and what drivers you have installed.

It's starting to look like Bioware's response to the problem of forcing a totally bugged patch down the throats of people who buy Awakenings, is to pretend the problem doesn't exist.

Awakenings launches tomorrow, I figure they are busy. BW prolly has EA down their throats about it, and told them to get it fixed.

Well, a lot of unsuspecting people are going to install 1.03 with Awakenings tomorrow, and I haven't seen any sign that a fix is imminent.  I mean, if Bioware comes out and says we fixed the crash bug (the real gamebreaker), and says nothing else, I still won't want to install it if all the other serious gameplay bugs for Origins are still present.

Well I yelled loud and long, when I loaded the patch, but last night I got a wild hair and updated my new install from 1.02a to 1.03, and so far so good. That is to say the problems that were there with 1.02a are still there, so as it has been posted by others, some of the bugs have been around a while. This doesn't mean they don't need to fix things and be more "present" about it, it just means there are some hangers on (bugs) as one of the players said in another game "An added feature is just a bug with senority". LOL

Main complaints now are any scene with fire/lava, or more than a few npc's and the lag is herendous. Even if I lower my settings. Also when I zone some of my characters take off theie helmets(they are in my inv not on character).

My system is:
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU     E8400  @ 3.00GHz
Clock Speed: 3.0 MHz
Ram: 4 gig
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT Vram: 1.00 GB Driver Version: 196.21
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
DirectX 9.0c (Nov2007)

anyone try the patch with a fresh install, and starting a new game; not that this is the favorable choice, but it could be the patch doesn't work with saved games. Just a thought.

All I know is now when my theives steal, they get no items and my commoner dwarf can't steal at all even though a 'succes' prompt comes on screen.

When is someone going to put out a game that works right the first time?

I can't interact with Dog at all and it is a new game. Everytime I try to interact with him all I get is (happy bark)...

Two bugs, one minor one major. The minor one is all my characters have had their backpack capacity maxed. The second is character creation doesn't work at all. The sliders don't appear, the character doesn't even appear.

hmm i had patched and heard the problems with stealing so I made a dwarf commoner and she had no trouble. maybe it is only rogue created before the patch

Are you sure it's working? You can pick pocket money and plot items, but any NPC that would give you a random item will give the 'stealing successful' message, but you get no item. I tested myself last night with a newly created Dalish Elf Rogue in the Dalish Elf origin. Pick pocketed every NPC in the camp and all I got was money. Any NPC that gave me the message that stealing was successful (and didn't result in money), I receieved nothing in my inventory.

TostitoBandito: I unfortunately don't have an inside track to the devs. All I can do is what anyone else can do, which is send them a PM.

I can't get the patch to download past 7%, I've even tried downloading one from an off-site location. I don't know why it is not working since all the past patches have downloaded just fine. =/ Really getting annoyed here.

How hard it would be to make a statement? "yes we are aware about the problems with patch 1.03, and we plan to release a hot fix soon".

Apparently Bioware learned absolutely nothing from negative reactions to dead air during the RTO kerfuffle.  The Bioware mascot is now officially the ostrich.

Amazon.com shows re-seller offers of Pre-orders up 200% (2 to 6) since the weekend, slightly undercuting the Amazon price. Dumping is too extreme a characterization though the Product Discussion thread is interesting. The feeling is that the launch is imploding.

It looks to me whoever currently handles communications will be busier than they ever were with RtO.  This has the message "Expect longer delays in communication from staff" all over it Image IPB

I installed the patch, started a new game, and now, in the new game, I can't re-order my quickslots. :o I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the patch, or just a game bug, but no matter how many times I re-start the game, I still can't re-order them, but only in the new game, my saved games re-order just fine.

Ye Gods. I casually popped on to see if there was a patch since I've returned to my AW playthrough and was rather hoping to get an Attack score, and found all this drek. My thanks to those intrepid pioneers who've leapt in the way of the bullets of incompetence this patch has fired at DA:O.

Not that it needs saying, but notice to Bioware/EA: My Awakenings pre-order is still cancellable, and if something isn't done in the next day or so, it will be.

I had to check with the Dev team to make sure, hence the delay.

Yes, if you play Dragon Age: Origins Awakenings out of the box, you will get the patch automatically.

If you get patch 1.03 you automatically get all previous patch material included, so you do not need to get Patch 1.01, then 1.01a, then 1.02, etc. Getting Patch 1.03 will update you fully. :)

I just got the expansion today soooo I do not have to download and install the patch prior to installing the expansion correct?   Now I am wondering why Bioware released the patch before the game was released since it is included in the expansion.

Releasing the patch to a broader user base allows for broader test coverage. This allows the developer more time to polish the game so less time goes by between actual release of the expansion and a proper update. In theory. This means that the 1.03 patch was essentially a beta test - it's not an unreasonable concept, though Bioware should make available easier means to revert to the prior version if it is their intent to use a patch release as a beta test. And there is no reasonable excuse for the complete lack of communication on the patch's problems.

Are there any issues with the Xbox 360 version of the patch? The only issue i found wit the 360 patch was that it resets the game options to default.
